Do you NEED a UK based centre, or are you under the impression that you need one because it is a .co.uk? I can't tell from the way the question is phrsased.

I use https://www.gradwell.net they currently start at £6/month for hosting plus the additional cost of registering a domain name if you don't already own one.

You should be warned that the catch here is that they do expect you to do a lot of the work yourself. Their web interface gives you pretty much full control over your domain's DNS settings, email mailboxes and forwarding etc. If your domain is currently hosted by someone else they'll expect you to arrange the transfer of the domain and copy over the contents of the site yourself. Also because you have full control over everything it is possible to end up configuring it in such a way that it just doesn't work.

Their support is good though, pretty quick to respond and when they do respond it will be someone who knows what they are talking about, not some minimum wage pleb in a foreign country who will read off a script telling you to reboot your PC.

I'd suggest having a read through their knowledge base and see if the articles make sense to you before signing up.

Alternatively check with your ISP, a lot of them will also host a single domain for you for free or for a small additional cost. I know when I was with PlusNet this was the case.

I would like one for the purpose of Search engine optmisation for a UK based business so it'll be more easier to rank up for UK based results.

Lum - Thanks, I'll look them up.

Floor is still open for more suggesyions

Kingston and Zen are both excellent, but quality isn't cheap ;)

I've used Fasthosts (http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/) for years without any problems. They are not the cheapest but I really can't fault them for service.

I switched two websites to Memset last month and I'm very happy with the results. No negative effect on my search engine placing as a result of the swap either, even though I changed from static webpages to Joomla.

    I've used Dream Hosting:

    http://www.dream-hosting.co.uk

Never had any problems, uses CPanel/DPanel etc...

The websites I have created haven't been major websites so the cheapest option was fine for us (£9.99/yr).
