  • I have used curry paste without cooking it before. Never gave it a thought! Thankfully it didnt do us any harm but I have just checked the label and you are right - it should be cooked.

So thanks for highlighting that for me, will try the yoghurt and curry powder in future.

  • i've tried a curry powder, mango chutney and mayo route, but it tasted of yuck!! not like anything that i've had shop-bought before. i think the curry powder was the main culprit as it tasted 'uncooked'. maybe, i'll use the paste instead (tho' i don't buy paste anymore ever since i make curries from scratch now!)

I use curry paste but cook it first (mostly to get rid of the raw taste of the spices - I didn't realise until recently you weren't supposed to eat the paste uncooked either :o) - it only needs 30 seconds or so in a hot pan, then I let it cool before mixing it in with chicken and mayonnaise. It's a bit wasteful to heat a pan up just for one blob of curry paste so I usually do this when I'm making a curry anyway: I just cook a bit extra curry paste and remove some for my sandwiches before continuing with the rest of the cooking.
Back after a very long break!

I use Mr t's value chicken tikka, £1.89 (about) and makes about three large wraps.

I make a chilli mint sauce using value plain yogurt, about a cupful, add half a teaspoon of garlic powder, chilli and mint sauce, mix well together. Make wrap using this and the tikka with some sliced jalepenos if you like it hot.

    Does not freeze though.

I make a sandwich filling with cooked chicken pieces mayonnaise, chilli powder to taste and raw peppers it sounds awful but it tastes lovely. Then i use half for the sandwich and then at tea i get half a muffin/teacake put tomatoe puree on then spread some of the chicken mix on put cheese on and put under the grill to make a little pizza kids love them.
