Tesco club c/c 0% 12 month purchase, can i use to clear a Hitachi Fincance debt?

Hi everyone,

We bought a kitchen a year ago, £4800, which was pay nothing for a year, now its time to pay and they have wacked on £800 interest and want to start taking £150 a month each month.

It is in my Fathers name, who is now unwell and unable to work. We were not offered any kind of PPI at the time, this was May last year, so not sure if we have any come back on that? As I know he would have taken it.

I am hoping if i was to get a tesco club card c/c with its 12 month 0% interest on purchases, i could put all, or a good chunk onto it to lighten the load?

Have posted this before applying for this or any cards, so am grateful for any help on this as desperately trying to stop this getting out of hand.

Many thanks

The Tesco card offers 0% on new spending, so you couldn't use it to clear an existing debt, although you could put all your shopping on the card and use the money freed up to pay off the kitchen that bit earlier. Perhaps, that's what you meant.

Which credit card(s) do you have at the mo?

Alternatively, have a look at MBNA

They are offering 0% pa until July 2010 on cash transfers made into your bank account. That way you can access the money to pay off the kitchen.

There is a 4% fee for this (so £224) but once it's on a card, you can reapply for another 0% card next year to balance transfer to.

Call MBNA and check these facts on their offer before you apply for anything though - as terms and offers can change quickly.
