Hi all, this is my first post so please be gentle with me.
Just want to say thanks to all you DFW guys on here think I am truly addicted to this site. You have helped me to have what I will call a semi lightbulb moment the good side to this is that I realise that we are massively overspending far too much in debt and something needs to be done about it before it all gets totally out of control.
I have already made some positive moves, which include moving my debts to cheaper aprs, moving our awsome overdraft onto a 4.95 card, and opening another bank account so that we now have one for bills and another for spending also trying to budget. On the down side am committed to going on a holiday that I know we probably cannot afford and this is what I mean about semi lightbulb, still seem to have my head buried in the sand somewhat. Anyway hopefully will be brave enough to post an SOA in the future so I can really benefit from your wisdom..... Thanks again and sorry for the rambling......0 -

Welcome to MSE Melbean!
The sooner you post a SOA the sooner we can save you some money!
And don't beat yourself up over the holiday! It's done now. Enjoy it, but MSE style! It will take a few months for all the "skeletons" to come out!
Well done on the great start!

Thanks SS, you are so right about the skeletons. My heart is pounding that I have actually had the courage to post for the first time (have been lurking around the boards for months). Feel all those things that you mentioned in this thread shame, guilt, sometimes have sleepless nights. But just know that I am not ready to do SOA yet as almost frightened to admit it to myself, OH knows about some of the debt, but as what seems to be common on this site, money is my department so sometimes feel the weight of the burden.
So if its ok think I will lurk a little longer, wait until that lightbulb gets a little brighter and only up to my eyes in sand.
Can you tell I am new, so much rambling and not got to grips with smilies signatures etc. yet

Hey op, SS remember me? LOL thought you would.
As I have posted on other threads, when I joined MSE I had been debt free for 8 years. It was only a planned debt £6000, but to me it was a lot at the time and worked hard to clear it as soon as possible.
Anyway.
When I joined this site and saw the immense struggle some of you have on your hands, I was dismayed. You read in newspapers about massive debts and even of people who kill themselves, unable to face their situation. I was impressed by the sincere motives of this site (well, Martin really), and I firmly believe that anyone who joins and sticks to the plentiful and sound advice to be found in these pages, will eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I might add that by following tips and suggestions in here, I am able to save much more then before, and I was already good with money!
But much praise must go to all of you who are biting the bullet and tackling your debt. It's hard going, but it's well worth it because at the end of it there is financial freedom.
:T :T :T SS for starting this uplifting thread, and
:T :T :T to those of you who are working your way out!Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
This site has been my salvation in a number of ways. What's so great is that you can pour your heart out and someone will always be online to help you and make you feel better.
Not only is this site getting me out of debt, but it's supported me when I've been severely depressed, advised me on problems, and generally been like a best friend.
I can;t wait for the DFW meet in July cos I really want to meet everyone and give you all a big hug!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
