Thanks for all the replies. I usually steer away from bargain basement components anyway.
The gist of it sems to be 10 metres will not present a major problem.
Many thanks0 -
Can I just point out that many high street retailers play on people's ignorance and encourage customers to pay for excessively overpriced cheaply made cables in snazzy packaging such as monster cables, simply by mentioning 'jitter' and such words. I agree that a correctly specced cable will be better than an incorrect one, but that doesn't mean the higher priced cables are any better than the cheaper ones.
As a case in point, I have several MIDI cables for connecting musical instruments together - one of them is a Monster branded cable and despite being more expensive, when opened up turned out to be made using inferior cable then the cheap ones I've got, and not only that doesn't even have all the required pins connected, meaning that it isn't even a MIDI cable, despite what the packaging said.0
