I am confused by the calling plans, as it seems to me that I am now paying for the unlimited evening and weekend calls when I thought this was free as I signed up to stay with BT for another 12 months?
    Many thanks

    Angela,
have a look at the thread called "My BT line rental is £ 15.45 a month ??!!!" by Spiritus. Looks like this has happened to at least three of us.
  • This is classic from BT:

"I pay a fixed amount every month (Monthly Payment Plan) but this bill is higher than normal, will my monthly payment have to change?
This charge should not cause a review of the fixed amount you pay every month as it is a one time only charge."

Oh yeah? My monthly payment has rocketed from £8 to £29.50 !!!

    I'm fuming..............

Well, since my original post, I've been keeping a check, online, of my Calls to date....as I always do.
Ever since I had my last bill , 19th May ( the Confusing Bill 1), I've noticed that my Recent Usage, Calls to date....is STILL showing the amount of the Previous period calls to date....going back to the begining of Feb!
So, according to what I can see online, my "recent calls" are showing from Feb (which were accounted for from Feb-May19th in the May 19th bill), to yesterday.
Either yet another blip in BT's great system change, or will they actually try and charge for them again when I get my next bill on 19th August?
I wait with baited breath, as trying to explain this to the lovely people in Bangalore would send my blood pressure skyhigh....and they may just get it right before hand!
Anyone elses' showing the same problem?
If the BT representative is reading this, I'd appreciate you having a look for me....
    Thanks!

The monthly payments are reviewed all the time and if your bill has exceeded your credit limit the account will automatically adjust the the monthly payments. You will be told on the front page of your bill (the bill summary for online bills) the amount the monthly payment is increasing to and the date the new payment amount will start. You can avoid the monthly payments from increasing by makung one off payments either online or over the phone.

    Hey Vancat,

Sorry to hear the recent calls are still showing from the previous bill. Dont worrk you wont get charged twice. Your online account just needs to be reset to allow the calls from the previous bill to be removed and show only the call since the last date. Can you PM your BT Account number and BT.com login name. Will get is done for you asap.

We just have just had an email informing us of our lastest bill. I can see the two rental periods, one from 1 July to 24 July and another from 25 July (this bill date) to 24 Oct. I understand that, after initially being shocked at the bill being more

The bill is supposed to be improved but although there is less information (no longer includes full itemisation of each and every call - why), it is actually two pages longer (page 6 being blank and and the final page [7] marked "This page left intentionally blank". For a paperless bill it uses more paper to make a hard copy (yes I know it defeats the object).

I see it is possible to generate reports to itemise items.

I think I'd prefer to have it all in one document, even if we choose not to print it.
  • Hi, I'm new to this site. Interesting about the new bills. Thought I may be able to clear up one aspect.

If you're on the EW plan (Free for 12 months on ReNewable Contract) and still seeing
15.45 GBP on your bill don't worry. If you check the "Promotion Discount" section of your bill there will be a credit of 2.95 GBP so you're monthly DD should be for 12.50 GBP if you're on a paper bill. Or it's 11.25 GBP if you're on a Paperfree billing where you see another 1.25 GBP credit in the credit section.

I know it can be confusing but I believe it's because everyone has to be billed the same way so BT have to show credit on the bill.

If you're not PF billing and interested in saving 1.25 GBP a month on your bill search 'Paperfree' on the BT website.

Hope that clears something up. Or if not, well I tried. :D

....as was I this morning when my monthly bill arrived and was about £13 dearer than normal due to BT's "one-off payment charge"!!

So I decided to phone up and complain. As everyone on here should do if they feel aggrieved. The lady who took my call was very nice and said - even though I was willing to pay it up by £1 a month - that she would waiver my £13 one-off charge as a goodwill gesture.

    Result!!:T
  • As a footnote to this discussion: after an (almost) comical series of self-contradicting communications with BT about my billing and contract, I finally managed to get rid of them and have moved to Plusnet who I already used for my broadband. Ironically I believe they're owned by BT, but the service and billing has been clear, straightforward and just a joy to use so far.

My monthly DD was agreed at £51 to cover my internet, telephone and basic TV. I was to be charged £38.43 for the first three months and £51.64 thereafter.

Today I received my bill for the my second quarter which informed me my DD was to rise to £85.65. I have had a total of £5.60 phone charges over my first 6 months. I am therefore baffled as to why my DD has risen so much.

My conversation with a BT advisor has shed no light on this matter.

It seems to me the billing process is purposely complicated to confuse people.

    Consider me utterly confused
