It came out almost a year ago. The original iPhone didn't have GPS.

The new iPhone will have a digital compass, so it knows exactly which way you're facing.

LOL yeah I know the iPhone 3G came out almost a year ago, I mean I didn't realise they put a GPS chip in it. I personally didn't even notice! will have to look on my mates next time I see him.

Funny how the HTC Dream already has that feature, eh?

Not really; it's not as though Apple invented the magnetometer.

You're right, it's not, but it's funny how all the other phone manufacturers copy Apple's ideas, but now Apple are copying HTC's idea of encorporating a digital compass.

The HTC Dream isn't the first phone to have a digital compass in it. The Nokia 5140 (which was released in 2003) had one, and I'm sure it wasn't the first.

Ok, it probably wasn't the first to have a digital compass, but I think I'm safe in saying that the HTC Dream is the first to encorporate the digital compass with innovative apps such as Google Maps. It is just a bit of a coincidence that Apple have now decided to encorporate it with their own flagship touch screen multemedia cell phone.

How about the Nokia 6110 Navigator?

Using a map and a compass to find your way around isn't exactly a new idea.

You're right. It's much better to give my money to one faceless american corporation rather than another faceless american corporation. It isn't like they're both faceless american corporations who don't care about "fans", just money. Oh. Wait a moment...
