Hello,
I'm looking to get broadband installed in my home. I dont have a telephone connection but need the internet WITHOUT having to sign up to a 12month contract - is it possible? If so, what are the options/how much do they cost?

You must have a telephone connection. Assuming you have a BT line, the only genuine deal without 12 months contract is https://www.f2s.net connect Home package at £19.99. Stay with them for 3 months, then ask for MAC and migrate to a cheaper ISP before the end of month 4. This will save you £50 activation fee and you don't have to pay any penalties after 3 months.
(I know f2s are having some customer complaints at the moment but I believe a majority of them are 8Mbit LLU connections, as long as you go for the 2Mbit or less package, you should be ok)0 -
https://www.eclipse.co.uk do a monthly contract0

So do Newnet http://www.newnet.co.uk/broadband/ Basic but cheap, good connection speed, e-mail answers less than 24hours.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I was thinking of going with NewNet. Are they any good?0

Been there since before Christmas, had a slight hiccup in that time. Generally good speeds, faster than metronet, e-mails answered within 24hours. Can't say about phone c/s as not used. 1 e-mail only, not used as I have a separate account elsewhere. Various usage limits(not a cap) you pay extra in arrears for usage above the allowance. You get a good e-mail when you join detailing how to set up your modem or router. Not quite as good at informing of any projected downtimes and changes as Metronet WAS(not as now)I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

A genuine monthly contract should not have a penalty to pay if you leave within 12 months (or 3 years in the case of Plusnet).0

My boyfriend has been on a monthly contract with a Virgin for a couple of years and he swears by them . He is a very heavy downloader and has never had any problems technical or otherwise. He has been upgraded for free to 2mb and got an email yesterday saying he would be upgraded to 8mb for free if his exchange support it.
Me, well I'm with e7even....... pretty much against my will these days
Maybe one day I'll get my MAC code....... 0
