Old tv verses new lcd

This is normal for LCD TVs. Plasmas do not suffer from this problem, but obviously have their own issues, such as image retention.
Well, as I put in my post, both the manufacturers helpline and the shop disagree and refunded me.
If this is the case, (which I doubt), there can't be many people happy with LCD, as a family watching, there can be only one person in the optimum position to see the screen, and all the others must suffer an inferior view!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Has anyone ever had burn on their LCD TV?
It does say on the first page of my manual, don't leave on the same channel for more than two hours and it can leave burn on the screen!!!! Also if viewed not in wide screen the black bars can leave a burn too.0 -
Does anyone actually watch channels that are contemptuous enough to have logos in the first place? If the controllers have such contempt for their audience then will not get my custom, anyway.
Unfortunately, it seems in a few years I will not be able to watch any television.0 -

The only channels I watch, and want are Freeview channels. As a single person this is more than adequate for me.I wasn't evn able to get channel 5 until the analogue signal was turned off on May 20th!
Mind you, it has been made clear that in order to carry on watching after switchover, some sort of equipment was needed to convert our sets to digital, be it freeview box, IDTV, or PVR with freeview tuner built in. That means money must be parted with, at minimum £15 for a STB, or one has been passed down the line, as was my case when Grandad no longer had a need for his boxes. These got passed down the line again to friends when I was forced to purchase a new IDTV as the old TV broke down, but sadly they were too old to carry on working over switchover..
I personally would not go for Sky or anything like that but we all have different requirements tastes and interests!0 -
Continued from prev post
I must say the Humax PVR is brilliant, far better than the IDTV. If anyone wants to upgrade their TV to digital, I'd recommend doing it this way,you don't need to but a seperate STB and not splashing out on a new TV unless absolutely necessary!I bought the PVR because the IDTV does not have a spare channel you can tune the VCR into it.The VCR can only be used to playback now on the IDTV.0 -

I'm glad you got a refund as you obviously weren't happy with the TV. However, although you doubt the veracity of my claims, it doesn't make them untrue unfortunately. I do not know of any lcd panel that gives 100% the same picture from every angle. This is a known issue with lcds, and is why all manufacturers and retailers quote the 'viewing angle' in their specs.0
