Does a brand new TV come with a warranty? And does anybody know what they cover?
I have noticed Tesco Direct trying to flog me 'Electrical Cover' for £73, for a £450 TV ... worth it?

a brand new anything comes with a 1 year warranty.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
And sometimes munufacturers offer a longer warranty as standard.
Sony are currently offering a 3 year guarantee on any Bravia's over 26".Dave. :wave:0 -
You are also covered by the 1971 Sale Of Goods Act which will probably cover you for more eventualities than limited warranties.0

That price is 16% of the retail price-is that a 2 year policy?
These in store warranties are always overpriced, much better to buy an independent warranty after the m/f's 1 year warranty expires if you really want one.
Richer Sounds are more reasonable-they charge 10% of the retail price. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks guys, I pretty much thought that warranties were a waste of money .. just checking though because I had seen somebody on here recommending warranties to folk..0

Digital direct offering free 3 year warranties (inc 1 year manufacturer).
Can link via TopCashBack too for 3% cash back.
I just bought a TV from them. Super quick delivery and the online chat facility good for you to clarify spec, relative benefits of TV etc. Price was as good as i could get anywhere on the model I wanted. Incetive of extended warranty swung it for me and service comes recommended too.
Have a look for yourself.

Under EU legislation it's two years minimum.

Quite correct, but in the UK it is six years under 1971 Sale of Goods Act.
