Patrick- no. The ticket is non refundable and this clause is contained with terms and conditions that you accepted upon booking.
Thanks for that PBS...is it possible for me to get one of these? As would make life much easier for me.0 -

Sadly no, the UK and Ireland are the only two countries in the EU that don't issue them (as far as I'm aware...). The UK does have plans for them, but they seem to be tied up in endless debates about just what they're going to do. They do make life so much easier when travelling within the EU.
I *think* there was some news recently about a trial taking place in Manchester, but I don't know more really.
No Polish grandfathers or Italian grandmothers by any chance?
From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

The only descendants I have are Irish unfortunately
Oh well, thats just typical, you know with the whole scare of losing your passport for a 40 minute flight and getting to keep an ID card in my purse would be a heck of a lot easier and safer!
Thanks very much for your info though.0 -
No chance - won't work cough up if they have caused this?0

It might be worth checking out alternative airlines - if you catch them at the right time, even BA can be a very good price. Many of the 'legacy' carriers don't bother with asking for any ID at all on domestic flights too
