Random Post Alert !
Did anyone watch Gok last night, they did a test of macs / showerproof coats & the one that came second was the same as the one Lou bought (red one, I think it was Lou), only the tester had the beigey/whitey/creamy colured one on.
Only noticed it 'cos I bought one myself last month - I think I was quite chuffed to think that there was something on Gok's show that I already had
See told you all it was a random post :rotfl:Don't Take Life too Seriously - Nobody gets out alive :rotfl:0 -

Happy Birthday Inky:bdaycake:
I am looking for a nice mac too - I only have walking jackets or a long cashmere coat (M&S) but no posh mac:rolleyes:
Am mightily worried when Sammy claims to have only two weeks left in the office - does that mean a holiday or is she running off to the Bahamas with her clients' cash:eek:
I am not doing much today - must fit in my neighbours fix and this week I am watching Home & Away too because for once there is some excitement in it, a shark is eating the residents:rotfl:
Have forms to complete and an office to tidy.0 -
Ok I have a hypothetical question for you. This isn't asking for medical advice but more of a moral question.
Child A has disability. Research and clinical trials have found that a widely available antibiotic had been shown to reverse some of the symptoms of the child's condition, potentially allowing the child to lead a more normal life. Child A's GP knows nothing of this because he cannot keep up to date with all research for all illness' or disabilities and so is refusing to prescribe the antibiotic. The child does not have a hospital consultant who specialises in his or her disability, a referral was made but the authority declined it because of funding issues.
The antibiotic in question has been used for over 50 years and poses no health risk beyond that of any over the counter medication. The child's parents have been in contact with the research facility in the USA and have all of the required information regarding dosage and counter indications. This trial is now closed but the family could possibly be included in a trial for another treatment but this would require a total relocation and would cost upwards of £250,000 for the 18 months they would have to be out of the country. The family are considering this but are waiting for the first round of clinical trials to be concluded before making a decision. They would also be keen to see if the simple antibiotic is effective before deciding to uproot their lives.
The family have found someone who is willing to prescribe the drug in question but this would be considered as self medicating their child and would not have the approval or support of their medical care providers. Do you think they would be either wrong or irresponsible for going ahead and privately purchasing the medication? Or should they wait for however many years it takes for the results of the trials to filter through to the individual GPs and the treatment becomes widely available?:A

@ Inky - Happy birthday!
Having another lazy day today. I've put a couple of MB on and I'm planning on working on my Employability essay for the rest of today. So just shoo me away if I keep chatting.
