There are six of us so £3 each for flowers, gets a nice big bunch, card from the local maket will be Hallmark quality for less than 80p I also have a box of Black Magic that I won in a raffle a few weeks ago. We will be having a bit of a do at mine, last year we went out to lunch (20 of us) cost a fortune and they pushed us out as soon as we finished eating.

Thanks Lady S - have just been on the balloon website and ordered one for me mum - much cheaper than flowers (as you so rightly say) and I know how my mum hates throwing anything away, so she can keep the balloon when it deflates and think of me when she's older - I can hear here saying it now "remember when you sent me that balloon for Mother's Day" arh bless her xx (hee! hee!) Only joking mum - love you lots :iloveyou:

My mum will have a selection. A few TD items I got for free from Boots back in Jan.

Also bought her some face creams as they where on BOGOF in Boots. As I know she never spend money like that on herself.

Even spent money on getting my brother something to give her. I did owe him a couple of pounds so spent a little bit more. Must drop that off in the next few days so my mother does no know.

Problem is my mum might think it was bought by his GF. And none of us like her :rotfl: He keeps her well away from all us.

    And handmade card.

I know my mum and dad don't really mind not getting anything. But I always do just to show how much I care and think about them. Even if it only cost a few pounds.

Don't forget it is the thought that counts not the price tag.

    Yours

is having a shredder - its what she wants so that's what she's getting.

Will also get her some of those plug plants - better value than getting cut flowers and she does like her gardening.

Will also suggest to SIL that we split the cost of putting some flowers on MIL's grave as its only a tiny plot.

As a mum myself to a son, I was expecting to wake up to no card on sunday (as it does seem to be a girly thing) but he proudly informed me yestersday that he had made a card - he's such a good MSE at such an early age!!!

I bought a lovely stoneware teapot off ebay for 6 quid and then a pretty candle with petals set in it for about a quid. Try there for bargains and remember mum's dont expect you to spend a fortune on a present. How about cooking her/ her favourite meal or having a family photo enlarged and put in a nice frame ?

    Just a few thoughts

many many many many many many years ago when I was skint ( not much different to now LOL ) I bought my mum a mushroom growing kit for mothers day. It consisted of everything you need to grow mushrooms all in a box full of you know what !. I thought it was a brilliant idea :rotfl: she eventually saw the funny side of it. She actually grew mushrooms from it but then the cat used it as a litter tray so home grown mushrooms were no more.

I think I'll play it safe this year with a manicure and HM card :)
