Not trying to glam my mum up, but I know she has had this particular facial before & wanted to have it monthly - but not sure she's been able to afford one, so thought I would treat her!!0 -
Flowers for a tenner and a card. It's all I can afford right now (wish it could be more, but.......). However, I've invited her and Dad over for Sunday lunch and will do a proper home-made meal, bake a cake for afternoon tea etc.
Being the good little MSE that I am these days I bought a huge salmon a couple of weeks ago (£7 for a 2.5kg fish - special offer!!!) and froze it in preparation for the lunch. Not sure what else I'm cooking - it'll depend what's on offerHoping to get away with a really lovely lunch and afternoon tea for three for under £20.

My mum is exactly the same. She is a complete nightmare to buy for, I've lost count the number of presents I've found at the back of her wardrobe unused. She ends up giving me all the beauty gift sets she gets from friends/family so I can't complain there. Seeing as I live 200miles away from her I'm gonna have to opt for flowers. Now I'm a full on MSE just looking at the cheapest but nicest flowers to send. Does anyone know of cheaper services than Interflora or Next flowers? I love my mum but £30 on flowers seems such a waste!! (I've amused myself typing that last sentance, before MSE I wouldn't even think about the cost!)Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 038 :j0 -
My mum lives 200 miles away also and I have a voucher from Tesco if I order before 9/4 and spend 20 I will get 500 clubcard points and free delivery. I would tell you the code, but from what I gather I am not allowed to - if you can let me know how to get around this, I will be more than happy to do so!!When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

Thanks sueNot sure how to get round it but I don't shop at Tesco's so the clubcard points wouldn't help me anyway but thanks. Just checked the website and the prices are cheaper with free delivery so that's a bonus. Thanks! :T :T :T

Hi LMS,
I look up yell.co.uk and look for local florists near to my mum - its much cheaper going to a local florist - I just ring them up and ask for local delivery - always works out cheaper for me than going through interflora/next/m&s etc.
HTH
scottishspendaholic xMBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -
oooh never thought of that, that's a cool idea with balloons Lady S thanks- I'll save that in my favorites. I'll do some research tomorrow on the local florists though, never thought doing it that way thanks SS. Was so much simpler when I was at home to rush to the market to get bargain flowers
Just phoned my-useless-with-money brother who surprise surprise has none so as usual my present is gonna have to be large & thoughtful enough to make up for the lack of present/card from him.. ggrrrrrr :mad:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 038 :j0 -

You can get 3 bunches of daffs for free if you go to most roundabouts when it gets dark
