Lol thats always a worry  having the kids you want to get away from turn up on your holiday.egyptiangirl wrote: »Not a place suggestion as such but just to say, as a teacher, holidays in school holidays have really come down this year! At one point I had a rule of thumb that £350 would get a week somewhere hot (basic b&B package) but there are lots about for quite a bit less than that.
Try Olympicholidays or thomas cook or thomson. All have got nice packages if you can't be bothered to book seperately.
Personally I like a greek island or I've got addicted to cruises as you get to see so many places within the week. If you left it you could get one for about £500 depedning on where you fly from. And let you wife know that there usually aren't too many kids on board!
Talking of kids, any teachers out there beat this? - went on girly hol at easter and lo and behold a year 12 & 9 were on our flight(with their mum and dad - nice family btw!)....in our resort...on our transfer coach  Thank God we didn't see them in the week!:j
I am desperate for direct flights to Orlando for Aug 2010 but prices are outrageous.0 -

I was on holiday a few years ago in Turkey and met another teacher in hotel (as you do) and her lead Ofsted inspector was staying in same hotel!:eek:0 -
Nosdrahcir, I can thorougly recommend the lovely Turkish resort of Kalkan. It's a longer transfer than Dalyan (about 2.5hrs) but I think it's worth it. It's got all you could want. I've been so often that we no longer bother with travel agents just do it ourselves.0

Kalkan does indeed look like a really great option...now just to find a good deal!0

Hope you find something. If I were you I'd try and stay close to the town so you don't need taxis although many hotels offer courtesy transport.0 -

As my wife's a teacher, we have to take holidays during the school holidays which is an absolute pain trying to find something reasonably priced.
We're young (mid 20's) and like to visit places with a good mix of sun, culture, history and nice food. We're not really the clubbing, out all night types! (Last year we went to Lindos, Rhodes, and that was perfect for us)
Does anyone have any suggestions for reasonably priced holidays- we're looking at 7 nights departing 10th-13th August. Budget is ideally in the £300 to £500 each kind of range.
Any advice, pointers towards deals etc would be much appreciated!
Hi there,
Read the thread on the bargains section for Pierre et Vacances !! Fabulously priced French and Spanish holidays, they would be well within your budget, only problem is they dont include flights however, with the easyjets and the jet 2 im sure you would be able to pick up a cheapo !!0 -

You're obviously pretty knowledgable about the place!
Who was your operator previously? (before you started arranging it directly)
I don't have too much time to invest in arrangements so hoping to find a good package deal.0 -

We used to use Tapestry but I'm not sure it's in business any more, we stopped using them when owners of our favourite hotel retired. We now choose to stay at the Hotel Dionysia. Rooms/bathrooms are small and basic but pool is good and best of all it's in a lovely, quiet street a few minutes walk from the town. You could get far more space and luxury further out (See Club Xanthos for example) but we wouldn't want to be at Kalamar Bay although it is beautiful there. The Dionysia is served by a company called Holidays4U. Obviously we don't need a rep but there must be one. I am reluctant to recommend but I've met lots of people who use this company year on year because they want to stay at Dionysia.
