Please remember the poll is for how much you were given in your first year of study at university.0

I was entitled to £1,250 in my first year "because of the amount of money going through my account" how ever i get the FULL STUDENT LOAN into this account, and a Bursary of £1,500. and work paid full time for 6months of the year for my sponsering company. I have paid into my halifax student current account on average £9,500 per year, for the last 3 years. (this money has normally been spent as it comes in leaving me generally using the majority of the overdraft). However each year i apply for more of the £3,000 overdraft Im "entitled" to yet i get knocked back for not putting enough money through this account????
I would love some help with the criterea i have to hit to get the full £3,000! as i am now going into my 4th year in September and only have £2,200 limit.
Kind Regards to all.0 -
Was told I could have 3000 when I applied.
Got 500 initially I think, after having an account with Halifax through my teenage years. It went up to 1000 soon after, I think it was when I paid in my student loan. I asked to increase it to 3000 and was told that you couldn't have the full amount in your first year. I asked to increase it to 2000 and they gave me 1500.0 -
I got £1000 in the first year, was max they would give me at the time. It gradually grew to £2,750 by the end of last year. They then sent me a letter 2 months after graduation demanding I pay it all back immediately. I went into branch with documentation that shows that the OD was interest free for the year after graduation and they reversed it and apologised, a lot! Start paying interest next month so switching it to A&L. Would never recommend Halifax after the way they have been with my account.0

I have a £500 overdraft - it was what I got when I opened the account. I haven't tried asking for more, but I can do so if you want and see what they now say?0

I got no overdraft until loans had been paid in (which was January when I got Sept and Jans in one go - because SLC didn't believe I was UK born and bred til I'd had an interview at the job centre over my 26 year old NI number!)
I then got £1000, was told it would go up again once my April loan went in, I went back a couple of weeks ago to request it was increased to £2000 and it was refused and the exact reason was "You can only get a maximum of £1000 in your first year."
I am full time student, I work full time too, I get full loan paid in by SLC and pay in £700 of earnings a month from my other Halifax current account.:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

When I initially opened the account I given £1000 limit, and when I called them 6 months later, I was told that the maximum they can offer is £1750 in the first year, and that £3000 is only available in the final year -- despite their advertising to the contrary. The lady even put me on hold and double checked this with a colleague. So now I have £1750 limit. I didn't make a big issue out of this because I didn't want unnecessary extra credit searches on my credit record, nor did I want to annoy the bank and risk loosing the account altogether.0

I had £2500 in my first year and then this was quickly uped to £3000 by Easter but then again being that I had a part time job in a bank and often read this site I did have a brilliant credit rating for an 18 year old.0
