Does it matter if the groom and bridesmaids don't match?!

Hi there. I am having my groom in an ivory tie and black suit and, the best man and ushers in burgundy ties which match the bridesmaid dresses. We thought it would be nice if we were all in ivory including my daughter who is 2 and going to be a flowergirl, then all the others in burgundy. The groom is going to have a double burgundy and ivory rose buttonhole to tie him in slightly and I will be having a burgundy rose bouquet.
You can have whatever you want and as long as you are happy it doesn't matter, Tiger xMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150 -
lol you're all talking about "burgundy" "ivory" "champagne" "merlot" etc etc. or different themes on these colours.
What you actually mean is that you're all wearing beige and maroon. It's al the same. You've just been suckered into the wedding marketing vortex lol Call it "champagne" rather than beige and you can charge twice as much.
[slinks quietly out of the wedding thread.....]"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Mine don't quite match, my dresses are a purple/pink tafeta, and the cravats are aubergine from Moss Bros. They are similar, however, due to the material and the colour of the dresses, the only way I could have got matching for the groomsmen would be if I bought a dress and made the cravats myself!
Like they said in the shop, its not like they would be walking round with their neck on the bridesmaids dresses!!0 -
weeeeeeeeeeellllllllllllllllll....
The bridemaids are wearing Ivory dresses with pink flowers and dark green leaves on. The men are wearing suits with ivory waistcoats, dark green cravats and have pink gerbera button holes (my theme!)
so there is a bit of matchiness

What 'matters' is that the bride and groom are happy - There are witnesses present, as well as all the legalities (and the optional rings!)
My hubby always fancied wearing a top hat and tail coat (which he got in black, with a bow tie to match) His waistcoat was blue/multicoloured (belonged to his dad, lots of sentiment and 'something blue'.)
Our son wore a black tailcoat with bow tie aswell. (that was hard to find - he's only 17 months old!!! gotta love ebay though!)
I was in a huuuuggge white dress.
Buttonholes for all were ivory. Bridesmaids/my bouquet were lilac and ivory, My chief bridesmaid wore a deep purple dress with wrap...My 2 'flowergirls' (daughters) wore white dresses with ivory boleros. the 2 Best men wore whatever they wanted to!!!
We were all present and happy, and that's what matters! (we got married on the 1st May this year.) HTH x
Although we didn't 'theme' as such - I stuck with the lilac and ivory for wedding favours, and the cake decorations were all lilac purple and ivory as well as the balloons for the reception (which no-one even cared about after i spent months worrying about how different shades of purple would go together!!!)If google doesn't know it, how should i?0 -
I am having matching colours but I am a bit obbsesive with my matchyness lol, I have seen pictures on YAYW with different colours for bridesmaid dresses alike though in pales or brights and it did look good I think its becoming more popular not to do the matching colours0

I've got a thing about matching colours lol. I'm in Ivory, BMs are in gold, H2B will have ivory waistcoat and ivory cravat, and all groomsmen are in ivory waistcoats and gold cravats. Even mum and MIL2B are in the same "family" of earthy colours so that we have a nice co-ordinated wedding party!
Me...obsessive?? Never...lol0
