buy a laser printer, you'll get loads more sheets per £. and toner doesn't dry out either.

cheap black and whites are only about £50

seconded.. i could easily sell you a cheap laser for £50, and then consumables for that would be cheap...

but, i'm not allowed to on here, so i can't....

I was going to suggest sticking with Epson. I've found it so much harder to get compatible cartridges for HP's and the like compared to Epson's.

I've always found this website to be good if you order a set:

yummymummy i would recommend getting the compatibles from inkpower its all down to the chip thats on the cartridge. when i used the first set of compatibles from them i was expecting my printer to say not epson cartridges but it didnt, it excepted them, it was a dx4800 , i just checked on their price £14.99 for 12 included free p&p 12ml or 19ml in each cartridge.

Cheap ink isn't always a money saver as some can be absolute crap. I second the above recommendation for Choice Stationery. I have used their Epson compatibles for well over 5 years on three different printers and have only had one bum cartridge, which was promptly replaced with no fuss.

We bought a Samsung M L 2240 Lazer printer fro Amazon about two months ago and are well pleased with it.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

If you're not bothered about colour printing (and if you're only printing labels then I guess you're not) then a cheap(ish) mono laser printer really is the way to go. The running costs for inkjets are such that I no longer bother with them, and Epsons are by far the worst offenders.

I picked up a Samsung ML-1610 for just under £50 from eBuyer a while back - a new toner costs about the same, but lasts a hell of a lot longer than a typical inkjet cartridge. Replacement toners can be picked up from Staples or any decent stationery supplier.

Depends on what you mean by 'money back' guarantee - Samsung printers have a 3-year warranty, but I'd imagine that if you bought a printer that didn't work or was otherwise unfit for purpose you'd be covered by the Sale of Goods act or similar (IANAL, though)

No doubt someone with a bit more legal nouse will be able to clarify this (or shoot it down in flames ;))
  • oh sorry i mean on the compatable cartridges mentioned in above links,i meant if they dont work after installing
    im not with it today
