British Gas Homecar annual service

In years gone by, whenever I received my direct debit renewal, I automatically got a letter giving me a date on which my boiler would be serviced. For the last few years, this letter hasn't been sent, and I have had to ring them and make an appointment. Surely, it should be the other way around?

Thanks Gerrard. Can you give me a link to make an appointment online please?
  • You need to log in or register at the British Gas website.

Once you're in you can book a service there.

I am already registered with BG but when i checked on my account, there is a box "Existing Customer" with details of booking appointments, but when I click on it, it just takes me back to my account page. So I have sent them a message asking how to do it online. Otherwise, I guess I just have to ring them.

We booked on line last week for a service call today between 10am and 2pm and no one turned up, so it will be back to booking by phone in future.

Julie, could you just guide me through how you did it online. I couldn't get anywhere with it.

Sorry for the delay in replying, this is what you need to do:

Log on to www.britishgas.co.uk/booking and enter your reference no and post code. BG had already written to us about on line booking and given us the ref no, but this can also be found on correspondence relating to the service contract, in our case it was the second block of figures (7 digits)
Click 'continue', which will take you to the next screen where you confirm that the address they have for you is correct.
Click 'continue' which will take you to the screen to choose a date and time.

Hope I've explained clearly, however I should mention that when my husband phoned BG today to ask why no one had turned up yesterday, he was told they were having a few problems with the on line booking system.

Thanks for that Julie. I did that and entered the reference number on my letter from last year as that is the only one I have, but it rejected it, also rejected the other number. Guess the system hasn't reached this neck of the woods yet. Thanks for your help.
