I've sent 30 things over the last couple of weeks and for about 5 of them I've had the receipt like yours with the postcode on and the rest were the certificate of postage where you write the name and address on.
The post office has to choose to print the receipt that says "this is your proof of postage" so it's not like you could've written it on yourself.0 -

so am i right in saying that what worked for you was making a complaint via their internat complaints system, or were there any other measures you took to become successful? FSA, other watchdogs for example?
Thanks for you response!
I went to town on my complaint. I phoned paypal almost daily, I cut and pasted their own rules and sent them in, I actually started getting emails from a named person, so I replied to them by name and insisted they help me. I instigated a complaint via paypal against paypal itself, if I can find the right bit in their help pages i'll post it later after work. That complaint got me another named person, so I copied them into everything as well.

I may be heading into a similar situation myself. I sold a cable modem on ebay and payment was via paypal. I posted the item Royal Mail recorded delivery on Monday, 1st June and a card was left at the delivery address on the 2nd (parcel tracked online). I contacted the buyer on Saturday, 6th June as the parcel still hadn't been delivered/collected - they didn't respond.
On Thursday, 11th June the buyer contacted me through Ebay with a rather intimidating message saying he/she hadn't received the modem and gave me until Saturday (today) to sort it, or he'd recall my money. I immediately checked the tracking number and the parcel had been delivered on Tuesday, the 9th!
I immediately replied, asking him/her for clarification, but they haven't responded.
I have no disputes showing with Paypal at time of writing.
I still have the receipt from the Post Office, but the house number and post code were hand written by the clerk when I posted it. All the above worrys me in this respect.
The money (just under £18) is still in Paypal. Do you think I should remove the funds before they're frozen/recovered?
My Paypal is not linked to a bank account, but is linked to a credit card.0
