if you have any tequila- strawberry margaritas,
if you have rum-strawberry daquiris
    if you're teetotal- milkshakes

ceebeeby's recipe is fab- my mum used to make this (though we didn't call it velvet-great name!!) if we didnt have digestives, she used to put the topping in individual dishes with crushed flake, smarties or something similar on top. She also made the jelly and mixed in plain yoghurt or cream to make a frozen pud.

I had some leftover strawberries, so froze them in individual portions, and add them to smoothies. I don't bother to defrost them - they thaw out as they're blitzed.

We have an older thread on what to do with frozen strawberries, so I'll add this thread to that one.

I'm trying a cobbler. It's in the oven now. Will let you know how it comes out and if very fussy OH will eat it.

Well, I put the fruiton top of the mixture and it cooked with all the fruit on top instead of the fruit sinking. But it tasted nice and OH ate it all which he wouldn;t if he didn;t like it.

next time I'm going to put the fruit on the bottom as Oh was confused as to whether it was a upside-down crumble or weird pie :rotfl:

Quite looking forward to defrosting the next punnet now.

I have loads of frozen strawberries in the freezer and would like to make a cake for the weekend.

Does it go all mushy when you defrost it? Any ideas?

    Thanks :)
  • Yes, they will go mushy, as they have a high water content ;) I'd make a fatless sponge, split it in half, fill with cream and strawberries, and dust the top with icing sugar :D

Fatless sponge is lovely and light, but doesn't keep as well as a Victoria.

  • You could also use them to top a cheescake, it doesn't matter too much if they are msuhy on top of a cheesecake :D

I have a raspberry cake recipe where you just chuck a handful of frozen raspberries in...it does not go mushy.
Why don't you google frozen strawberry ideas- loads will come up!
