Vodafone phone not working abroad - can I complain?

Hiya,

I don't know much about how the phone companies work, so I'm not sure what outcome I could get from what action I make...situation:

Last summer I called vodafone, asked them to make sure my phone would work when I went to Denmark, they changed some account settings and said it would - it didn't.

In January I called vodafone to ask them to set it up properly to work in France as it hadn't worked in Denmark and I needed it to work, they said it would - it didn't.

Two week's ago I went to the vodafone shop and told them to make sure my phone would work abroad, they fiddled around and said it should - last week I went on holiday and it didn't work.

I put my sim card in my sisters phone and it didn't work, but her sim in my phone did work, so clearly there's a problem with my number/account/sim?

Should I ring and complain? What should I say/ask for/try to negotiate? Is there any way I can get anything from them for this having happened?

Thanks!

Was you able to text, same thing happened to me last Oct when i went ot Vegas. Couldnt call or receive calls but i could text, caused loads of problems when someone got lost. I had double checked like yourself.
They ended up givng me about £100, even though the discount on my line rental seems to have been put on as permanent

For what loss? Did you lose anything as a result? Doesnt look like it. So you shoudnt get any compensation

Well its about service, if you needed the phone abroad for safety like a lot of people and then you dont have it, you cant really sort it out whilst you are over there.
I didnt ask for compensation i asked for a explanation why this happened as i was well peeved and they offered me that

Regardless of loss if they cannot provide the service they promise they should do something about it shouldn't they? Glad to hear they have done for you Fatboy.

I've also realised that since I've got back I've not recieved a single text message, and I know several have been sent, so Vodafone will definately be getting a call at lunchtime today!

I wasn't able to text or call while abroad, just got connection error messages.

Any idea which department I would need to speak to?

    Thanks!

I would have preferred the service as i really needed it abroad.

You have to go through the normal process of overseas contact centres and speaking to the supervisors. I got given an email address from here(will try and dig it up) and i told them i was writing about this matter to the director thats when they started to do something. Normally they just offer you £15 to shut you up
