    Oh Urg

    Any recommended research sites ???

Martin published this fairly recently: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/protect/make-money-surveys

Also - why don't you join a few challenges: the Grocery Challenge on the old Style Board is a great one for helping you to reduce your grocery spends and still be healthy. There's even a no take=away challenge!

NSD - No spend days = aiming not to spend money!

For your regular monthly payment to your friend why not set it up as a regular payment from your account so you don't even have to think about it going out. If your online banking is like mine you can set it to pay monthly for a set period.

A spending diary would be a good thing for you by the sound of it....it'll help you to track where that surplus is vanishing too each month. As others have said - the grocery budget can definitely be cut back. If you feel awkward suggesting to your OH that you cut back on the takeaways from a financial point of view, why not explain it away as wanting to eat more healthily?

  • Morning All

Just a quick update, since starting the dairy, i have joined 2 survey sites and if anyone can send me an invite to any good ones i would be grateful, so far i have made £2.50.

I have also allowcated some stuff for ebay i just have to make time to put it on there.

I am also eating my way through the freezer before pay day when i hope to have an empty freezer to fill and start all over again. (oh not eating everything all at once you understand lol)

Cheers for all the advice and suggestions :D:T:beer:

  • Well i have come to the end of my first month as a DFW, and although things have not gone as smoothly as expected i am quite pleased with the way things have gone.

I have managed to pad £656 (see sig) and tonight i am going to count up my sealed tin and see how much money i have set aside - this i will pay straight onto one of my debts.

There have been times when i have got a bit fed up and wobbled wanting stuff now and not wanting to wait but in the main i am over 600 quid better off and i just need to keep it up.

This month i have set my target of christmas to be as close to debt free as possible and to do this i think i need a few little challenges to help me a long the way.

I tried and failed dismailly to do a monthly Grocery challenge and a weekly spend but didn't do very well and to be quite honest crashed big style the 1st week and didnt try again, so these i think will try and finger crossed do.

I shall update tomrrow with my sealed tin figure and let you know how i am getting on during this month

    All the best

  • As promised I counted my sealed tin and i had £36 and a few pence.

The £35 i am paying to my debts and the £1 and few pence has gone back into my sealed tin. I am quite suprised with the amount but it shows it all adds up.

Also as of this morning my contract telephone has now gone saving me £40 to £50 a month which i can throw at my debts and i have a new challenge.

PAYG £10 a month - even if i spend £20 a month iwill be spending half what i was on the contract. Hooray. So i hope to spend £10 to £20 on my fone a month, will let you know how i get on.

Hope you have a good day

  • Happy payday!

So glad its payday, i made it through with about £3 left - which i may have to use for a sandwich for lunch lol.

I have budgeted my wages and am throwing all i can at my debts, i have also listed an item on ebay and am looking round for other items to sell. I have a grand total of £3.40 and counting on my surveys so all in all i am doing ok.

I was going to try and have a no spend day today but i have no lunch and i may have to just bite the bullet and get something unless i can find something lying around the office - probably safer to buy something lol.

Onwards and upwards (how long is June - i hope its a short month)

I hadn't been on this site over the weekend and the thought of coming on here and padding and still having extra debt and £30 a month to find - finally it got to me i was feeling so bad about it, it was like i was dirty unclean and that was it, the fone went back the debt was credited back to my CC. - This was the best feeling in the world, i felt clean (i can't really explain it but i felt clean)

So I'm no worse off than i was before i started but how do i stop myself from wobbling when the impulse pops up again.

A massive WELL DONE for taking the phone back! :T

Secondly why not cut the credit card up in to tiny pieces? And freeze the debit card in a block of ice? This removes temptation - I live on cash from day to day, only taking sensible amounts out of the house.

  • I have decided to give my diary abit of an update today as a few things have happened and i just thought i'd share, its also a motivation for me to keep going when i assess were i'm up to.

    The Good

My Padding is going well, i think i'm only a few quid away from beating last months total, and i'm sure i can get another £100 to PAD.

I have also cut up my just incase of emergency credit card - if i can't afford it i can't have it SIMPLE :o

A remarkable thing happened at the weekend, my OH who hates all things to do with supermarkets and food shopping, well on Saturday he said he'd do the weekly shop. Maybe its to give me a rest or to help my funds or prehaps he wants control of the food for a week, but i was so over joyed - this saved me about £60, which i am padding as and when i know i can afford it.

He is also cooking the tea tonight which means i can have another NSD today.

I have also sold an item on ebay, which once the funds come through i intend to PAD.

    The BAD

Well it's not to bad really. However I only £34 to last me until Monday afternoon.- this has to include a weekly shop for next week and meat for the weekend. It will be tight! and i think i am going to have to max out my NSD challenge to make it - as i can't afford to waste a single penny, if i am going to make it to monday.

I did pad today maybe a little bit to much but if its gone then i can't spend an waste.
