I recently took out an o2 contract not even a month ago. I went on the o2 website to look at the online bill and it says Total amount due £37.68
We'll collect this amount from your account on or around 18 May 09.
Thank you for paying by Direct.

I realise that 18th may was yesterday but I do not have the money in my bank right now. I can put it in tomorow, does this mean I am paying the bill late or is it ok as it says "around" the 18th may. Will this give me a bad credit rating ?

I paid a bill late one time, about 5 years ago, but it didnt go on my credit file. They must allow you a certain amount of time.

It would be unusual for your current account not to have an overdraft facility of at least a minimum £100 or so?
One late payment won't affect your credit rating, but O2 might charge a failed DD penalty if the bank refuse it.

Even if the payment bounced by you bank, your bill still wouldn;t be classed as overdue (and reported to the CRA as a 'delayed' payment - not a default. I'd suggest that if you are playing this close to the wire, you cnacel the DD and use a different payment method, as it gets expensive when everyone charges more just because the money wasn;t there when they called for it.

I suggest you speak to O2 and arrange to pay the balance owing ASAP.
