Where the radiator hangs on the wall bracket there should be some rubber/plastic inserts that stop metal on metal contact between the rad and the bracket the noise is the expanding metel on metal as the rad heats up and down!0

We have not had the opportunity to see the effects and problems ,with rubber seals on plastic pipe over a long period, prefer to stick with copperCharlotte wrote:Hi i'm no plumber but we have the same problem and also have a combi- bolier i was told, that copper pipes expand when they heat up and so you get the tapping and clicking, newer houses have plastic push fit pipes and you don't get any noise! lucky them. As far as i know theres not alot you can do (appart from replace the whole heating system!
Whilst we had the floor boards up we tried to secure the pipes better so there was less vibration it help slightly but not much.To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -

i had to rip floorboards up under babies room and discovered one of the pipes was rubbing on a joist which the carpet fitters must have dislodged.
now i think (fingers crossed) ive sorted it now.
thanks to all who helped i think ive thanked you all with the thank you button
