Hi everyone, my names kevin, and im a fool for buying a mattress dreams.
The mattress developed a fault within a 14 months, it was reduced in the sale to 1/2 and cost about £1500. we took it out on buy now pay later, and if not paid we would owe the full amount. credit was with barclays.
We paid off in full before the year ended. I took out the extra care (£20).
Dreams sent out a bed tech when i complained. he said it was general wear and tear!. i said rubbish, so i got my own one done who said a fault has developed in the mattress which is not by general wear and tear or done by our actions, therefore is not our liability and should in his opinion be redressed by a like for like replacment.
my question is this, i will send them a copy, but this report has cost me £50 so can i ask for a refund. also can i charge them £20 admin fee as this has taken me ages to get sorted.
Thanks in advance.
kevin.

A free mattress and £70 would be asking a lot."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

a free matress, i paid £1500 for my matress, hardly amounts to free, i want a replacment. (i will say my g/f has not had any back problems since getting it though, saved me a lot of money in other fees.)
if the bed tec had done his job i wouldnt have to pay for someone else to come out myself and get it redone. so i feel as the matress is faulty i should be remimbursed.
I was asking if i am within my rights to charge them?
the fault is that the matress has become lumpy and the foam top has moved to an angle and does not site squarely on the pocket sprung mattress base. if you seen the pictues it really is out of place alot, so it doesnt distribute the weight making it an uncomfotable sleep.0 -

You can't charge them, and after 12 months you only get a portion of the cost of the mattress.
What's wrong with it?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Consumer Direct advised me in a similar situation that I would need to get an independent report done and then take the bed manufacturer to court in order to get any joy.
I'd be surprised if you got anywhere with the company itself and you need to decide how far you're willing to take this.
I'd still write to them with a copy of the report but I'd be very surprised if they acted on it willingly.Herman - MP for all!0 -

hi alias
I did speak to dreams who told me i could get a report done. and if they dont i will take them to court. i only paid so much because i seen it as an investment, more fro my girlfriend then me.
I will also claim back court costs, im just sick of bigger firms taking customers for a ride. esp when its not our fault!
did you take them to court?0 -

No I didn't, I decided that it wasn't worth my time and energy. The bed was £1200 but it was bought using Tesco vouchers, if it was my own cold hard cash I might have felt differently. It also happened during a time when I had several other issues to attend to and on balance it seemed easier to let it go and mark the company down as 'don't buy from again'.
Good luck. In your shoes I would probably push for satisfaction too. A bed is expected to last longer than 14 months and you have an independent report detailing the problem so you do have something to work with.Herman - MP for all!0 -

hi dave.
The fault is that the matress has become lumpy and the foam top has moved to an angle and does not site squarely on the pocket sprung mattress base. if you seen the pictues it really is out of place alot, so it doesnt distribute the weight evenly either, thats why i feel i little sagging and not as well supported.0 -
