my mum was the first in her street to get a microwave and a video player, that thing was so big you could have landed a helicopter on it. I also remember her first car phone, huge thing which had a base unit about the size of a breeze block

I remember my mate getting a betamax video player!
It was huge and I was so jealous.
We didn't get a microwave or video player for years after they came in.
I could never follow the fashions at school, all my mates got the jelly shoes, basket weave bags and everything else that came in, I always felt so left out, I think that led partly to my spending and desire to have things immediately (before I had the LBM obviously!)

Sally that's pants, I think both you and your little girl deserve a lot better. Tell me to shut my gob if you like, but i think maybe it's time to weigh up exactly what you are getting out of this relationship. It sounds to me as if this guy needs a swift kick up the @rse so he realised exactly what he has and could lose.
Let him go and live a single life if that's what he wants, you can then find someone who will treasure you both and treat you like gold.
Nope you are completely right Toto..thing is we have been here before, difference is this time I am in a completely different mindset and Know that I can do single parenting as I pretty much do that and everything else anyway. Money will be the one thing I will struggle with but hey, could be worse!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

I bet the money thing won't be as bad as you think. I thought it would be almost impossible for me to support the kids on my own when I broke up with the kid's dad. But it wasn't as bad as I thought. In those days there weren't anything like tax credits and he has never paid a penny in maintainace. But we did survive and so will you.
Things might be a bit rougher but that's a small price to pay to get your life back. You are wasted on somone who doesn't value every second he spends with you and you'll never be able to find someone who will while you're giving your life away to this man.:A

Are we talking for the holiday or long-term here?

Have a good think about it while you and your daughter are away sally!
Hopefully the break will give you some clarity.
How old is your daughter?
