That's a new one. When I was at school/sixth form/Uni we had to sit where our name was and first we saw of our invigilators was in the exam hall.. How long have schools been doing this?
.
I dont know....I have the letter in front of me and it defintely (sp)says what I said in my post that they are meeting with invigilators this Friday and are told where they are to sit etc. DD is 14 and in year 9....does that make a difference?

Reminds me of all those scenes on tv where you see kids getting their results in the post. We always had to go down to the school and queue to get our slips or have the results posted on a board.
Glad to see Halight back with us. Sorry you haven't been so good. Wish you well mate.
I have no idea when it started (and I imagine it varies from school to school anyway) but I know that when my daughter did her GCSE's in 2006 she went through the same process and also had her results in the post.
Halight, good to see you back.
I have beef shin and veggie casserole bubbling away in the slow cooker and I'm making some garlic bread to go with it. Think I'm going to do it with couscous for a change. Other jobs for today are to get the washing dried, clean and dust the living room and sew badges onto cubs/explorer scouts uniforms. Ds is going away for three days in the mountains for Duke of Ed award. I need to try to work out what food to send that will last for three days, but won't be too heavy to carry.
Have a good day everyone.

Afternoon lovelies!
Halight - Sooo happy to have you back - we have missed you!
Lame wolf - You're welcome - hope you enjoy the recipes!
PenPin - thinking of you honey, Good luck with the new meds, and enjoy your time away with OH.
Sybil - Not sure why you think we don't want to hear about LB cos lots of us have told you over and over how much we do! And I don't read blogs so if you don't post here then I don't know how you are, so please please don't stay away.
First day of rain for ages here - still, the garden needed it. My MIL is here today and has just cleaned out my cutlery draw! She also bought me some new tea towels from the pound shop which was nice of her. We were hoping to get into the garden but rain stopped play. Still, if it DOES stop raining we will be out there!
I won a Rimmel nail varnish which arrived this morning and the only annoying thing about that is that I painted my nails last night so can't try it out yet. I seem to be lucky with their competitions, I won a fantastic mascara a few months ago.
No OS eating today except BM bread for lunch - we have friends coming down for our monthly takeaway and instead of chinese are going to go for Indian. I love the tandoori chicken. I did think about making naan bread but we got some ridiculously cheap at Asda so bought them and the poppodums to save a little money. Plus the restaurant has a 10% off offer at the moment which makes it better value.to everyone whose children are taking exams today and extra
for you mums dealing with exam stress!
Warm gentlefor all - Have a great day

Hello everybody,
Nice to see you back Halight, hope they get your health sorted soon, glad to hear that the twins are doing so well...take care of you.
PenPin, hope that you are feeling better now.
Good luck to all with exams.
Only thing done here so far to-day is that the kitchen floor has been swept....probably really needs to be washed, maybe later. OH decided to come with me when I left DGS2 to school this morning, then wanted to go for breakfast, then for a haircut, so I got mine done too, so we just got back at 12....not worth starting anything before I go back to collect DGS so decided to treat myself to an early browse!
Dinner will be homemade burgers to-night, was going to do shepherds pie but then got new potatoes which are useless for mash so burgers it will be...OH makes them so I am not on cooking duty....OH decided to buy a ginger cake too, think that he didn't realise that it cost €5.09....I forgot my purse this morning so wasn't able to pay for anything.
This afternoon's fun will be cleaning windows in downstairs spare room, putting up new nets, lining original curtains which have been washed, and putting them back up. The cot is full of toys belonging to DD2's children, they will have to be put in attic as they are coming on Friday and Aoife will need the cot. Then need to change the 2 beds in there and then we will have that one ready.
Have to sit down for a day sometime soon to work out a new budget....realise that there is money just being spent willy-nilly so got to stop that asap....feel that best thing would be to cream a percentage off the top to be saved no matter what, and then make sure we manage on what is left....anyone else do that and find it effective?
Have a good day all,
Hugs to all in need or want

Well, I've finished my kitchen curtain (more of a decorative pelmet really) and it is up and looks okay. Sorted out my linen cupboard. But best part of my morning...used my old bread maker to make a loaf. Last time I used it the electricity kept tripping, so I gave up. It had been in storage for two years whilst we were out of the country, and to be honest I was going to throw it!!!!! (not very MSE that)
But I tried it again today and it worked. I wonder if it was a bit damp or something.
Gardening this afternoon for me.0 -
Afternoon all.
I'm a good girl; I finally got around to repairing a couple of tops that I've been putting off doing for months, this morning.
Tbh, one of them I may well never wear again, but at least it's fixed if i do decide to wear it, and the other one I definitely want to take on holiday with me.
I also fixed the zip on my handbag that was coming adrift. Mr LW has been on at me to get a new handbag, as he says I've had this one "ages" but I really can't be bothered going to look for one. In any case, is 5 years really that old for a handbag?Yes, it's a little worn (it's tapestry), but it still does what's required of it.
*sigh* Maybe I'll find one on holiday - after all, I got this one when we went to Belgium in December 2003.:o
Halight good to see you back!
Pen-Pin I know what you mean about rough nights - hope you sleep better tonight.
((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon all!
Quick visit to say hello and I'm not quite dead yet lol! Had a fab weekend away with friends, saw the Ladyboys of Bangkok and went to a friend's 40th party, still recovering now - must be my age! Meant yesterday was spent catching up on housework and cooking, kids were mutinying that they had run out of hobnobs and cakes!
OS stuff today has involved more housework, starting to sort out the disaster that is my kitchen, think I'm gonna repaint, as that will clean it all up nicely, and ensure that I tidy and put away all the stuff that seems to accumulate on the surfaces! Have stardropped some waterproof jackets that had gained odd stains, come up nicely, prob not quite so waterproof now, but they're just the old ones we use for keeping in the car boot for days out. Hoovered and thrown out all sorts of bits of stuff that had gathered on the fireplace - why would anyone need to save old packs that they have removed the contents from?!
Lunch for the kids was ham sarnies, hm choc brownies, apple, satsuma and cheese cubes. Mushrooms and toms on toast for me.
Dinner will be wraps made with quorn, rice, and lots of salad and choc mousse for pud if I get my act together!
Off into town now to try to get ds some more trousers for school, current ones have been ripped and repaired so many times they are now pretty much beyond repair! Also going to grab some holiday brochures, hoping to go away next year with a girl friend for a nice break in the sun, though will probably end up with a day trip to somewhere wet and windy lol! Good to have dreams and plans though, we have a budget and are saving as from now!
Hugs to all in need and will do some mega catching up at the end of the week when I'm not working! Have a good day xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Marie, I save money directly from my salary, without it every touching my bank account, means that I don't count it as income. Works for me! xGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
