hi there
somehow this got small amount of water on battery which was dried immediately,it worked fine all last night,put on charge overnight then worked fine this morning and then it died !!
cannot see where the indicator is on the phone to say if water damage,the battery has a red colour on side but the phone i have no idea where to look
any advice appreciated

Normally the water damage indicator is on the handset itself, on one of the walls, normally the one nearest to the gold contacts where your battery goes to.
If the little square is white, it's not water damaged. If it is red, it is.
Bear in mind, if you call customer services (providing you have insurance on your handset) and tell them the square is white when you can see it is red, they will charge you for a full replacement once they've received it back into the warehouse and checked it themselves.
Don't say you weren't warned - I've seen it happen!
