Broken Phone - Able to haggle deal?

Ok so I'm on contract with Orange on their Dolphin 30 contract. The phone I got through the contract (SE K850i) got killed by a foam party several months ago, and since then I've been using my friends old SE W830i. It has recently decided it doesn't like being charged, so it's now out of action as well!

My contract doesn't need renewed until November this year, and their website says I'm not eligible for an upgrade until August. It also notes that when I get this upgrade it'll add the new contract onto the end of my existing contract.

Do you think it is likely I could cut some kind of deal through Orange/Carphone Warehouse in which I could get a new phone now and add the new contract onto the end of my current contract, a couple of months in advance of what the website says I can do?

If not what are my best options in the way of cheap temoporary phones?

You can't upgrade until the last 3 months of your contract, end those remaining months always get added to the next contract length.

The system will not allow any early upgrades (unless you want a Blackberry, and are willing to pay the early upgrade fee of £300) and will boot anyone out of the system if they try to get into the upgrade screens now.

This goes the same for any 3rd party dealer you go to - they have to call us to get your upgrade eligibilty date as their automated systems (the ones they have in the shop that access all mobile network's customers) brings up an error stating you are still in minimum term.
