Yes you can refund him the money back inside paypal. You could request another payment method if your unsure. Just expain to the buyer that you are worried about paypal because of all the scammers so would like a cheque or bank transfer. maybe worth a shot.0 -

Its up to you how much of a risk you wana take , if you dont want to take any risk ask for a bank transfer.
If he refuses they you will have to decide are you able to take the loss of the value of the phones or have a negative paypal account which you wouldnt be able to use, if a chargeback occurs. Your only option then would be to take him to court to recoup your money.
what worries me is that it is a phone you selling which is one the most popular items ppl try to scam and looking at his feedback its ok yet he hasnt traded much in the last few months. I would personally have asked for a verifed account.
oh and if you do decide to send make sure you write down the serial nu for the phone incase the buyer trys to send back a faulty phone pretendings its yours.0 -

I wouldn't have thought she could actually do this because she has placed the PayPal logo on the auction. If she then chose to refund the buyer and request another payment method then that is in breach of the rules.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

I'm with razorbladekisses on this. Look at it from another point of view, a buyer comes on here and says they bought a phone from a relatively new seller who accepted their paypal payment. Now a day (two days?) later they decide to refund that payment and ask for a non secure payment method instead.
What would we be suggesting? I certainly would be telling that buyer not to pay by any other means whatsoever and to report the seller as a non performing seller. It's a common scam to ask for paypal then refuse it at the last moment and take a different payment method instead that leaves a buyer vulnerable. Whilst we are looking at this from the point of view of the seller being honest, why would the buyer know that?

Donnaslayer wrote:Hello there,
A few years ago I sold a phone on ebay
I recieved payment through Paypal (I had the money in my account)
A couple of days later, I went and posted it !
BIG MISTAKE
Later that same day Paypal took the money back!
Turned out it was a stolen Credit Card and guess what ???
Thats right! "Paypal were'nt interested in the fact it was already posted"
I'd lost the phone, the money and even the P&P to ship it
BUT
I was really lucky because, I went back to the post office and after alot of begging and pleading. I was able to get it back, but i still lost out on the P&P.
 The same fraud happened to me, but however this was a UK guy and he also had a unconfirmend address. I received the money, spent the money and after 6 month past, paypal said the buyer was a fraudster and he used a fake credit card, and the credit card company issued me a chargeback. I lost bloody £200 was depressed for couple days. I was not bothered to go to the police, this meant more hassle for me. Thats why i think you should never sell stuff on ebay over £50.0 -

That would mean about half the regulars on this forum out of business then
