Help problem with jaguar X Type

...the car has been back to the grage where I bought it 5 times now & back to the Jaguar factor, but the noise still happends...
It would need to go to the Jaguar engineering centre where they have the required expertise and access to a test track that they can drive the car safely on at all speeds up to it's design maximum. Their NVH team could instrument the vehicle and tell you exactly where the nosie is coming from and what is causing it ... if they were so inclined.
However their engineering team rarely get involved in resolving indidual customer complaints - their role is to design & develop new cars. Only if there weere a number of similar complaints (indicating a true design fault) would the enginnering guys usually get involved. Your fault should have been recorded by the dealer and so would be available to the quality guys at the engineering centre.
However, this car has been in production for a number of years now and so I don't think it is a design fault, but rather a fault with your individual car. This type of fault is usually dealt with by the dealer, but in your case they cannot replicate it by driving the vehicle lawfully on a public highway Dealers don't have test tracks.
Perhaps you could try taking the vehicle to a Jaguar dealer in Germany next time you are over there and get them to see if they can identify the fault."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I'm not sure why they sent it back to the factory. There's very limited test facilities available at the Halewood factory ... and the engineers there are good at building cars, not experts at resolving faults.
LOL,
as one of those engineers, glad to see someone appreciates us,
slightly OT would you happen to be JLR to?
thanks0
