I am a SKY customer for the last 3 years with normal sky subscription; 2 entertainment mixes and sky unlimited broadband, paying £27 a month. I want to upgrade to SKY+HD.
What is the cheapest deal around? Do I need to pay £49 for the SKY+HD box and installation + £10 every month to keep my existing channels?
Thanks

£49 for the box, £30 install and £10 extra/month on your current subs to get the HD channels within your mixes.Dave. :wave:0

The RUMOUR is that come September the £10 charge will go away. The likelyhood is, if this is true, the cost of the box will go up to its usual charge. You'd be better off therefore, upgrading now.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

I'm afraid the general consensus in the industry is that there is no sign of the £10 charge disappearing.
As you point out it substidises the £49 box but also there is still a need to invest in the technology and launching more channels. Sky are adding users by the day and will not end this income stream any time soon (expecially with all these new 12 month contracts just starting!)0 -
It could also be a reverse marketing strategy.. seed the rumour and get muppets like me to perpetuate it, ending up in more people signing up lolStarting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

If you take the Mutiroom you would not have to pay the £30 install fee.0 -

I registered for a Sky HD upgrade on the 26 of April and i've been given a 3 month wait time for it.
What I did do after registering was phone Sky up and told them im not happy with paying £30 for someone to walk in the house and plug a box in. They were unable to offer any discounts for me on the Sky HD what i did manage to get was a 25% reduction on my bill for the next 6 months to offset the cost of HD box and installation. Result is when i finally get Sky HD its only cost me about £11 when you consider the discounts on what i would normally pay.0
