turning the Darwinian theory of evolution on its head by penalising the strong and intelligent who go out to work whilst rewarding the thick and the lazy for breeding,
There's a statement right out of Mr. Phirefly's shouting-at-the news repertoire.
Andjust fat in an “ate to much” kind of way
is another gem. I think the tone of voice here is hitting just the right note.
Really glad to see the blog up and running and not falling short of its promise. Sit tight on that freelance gig. I've been freelance for two years and it takes a while to get used to its rhythms. A week for you is going to feel a lot longer than a week for week him - try not to get too despondent and don't be afraid of seeming eager or worry about bugging people. Often when I chase up clients, initially it feels awkward but more often than not they say 'oh I'm glad you emailed, I've been meaning so get such-and-such brief prepared for you'
Looking forward to future installments.0 -

Oooh I had a read too. I don't agree with everything there.. ( we've already had the teenage mum's discussion ).. but really well written. I throughly enjoyed it. Dry humour, sarcasm and sharp observation with more than a hint of barely concealed frustration at the way the whole system works.
Good stuff !!! :TLooking forward to future installments.
+1It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
Google is now this country's largest advertising company by revenue (and local papers are going bust).
So we need an expert in how to scam Google and get the Max blog high in its listings.
The BBC featured legitimate ticket sellers complaining that the fraud sites are paying Goodle serious money per set of eyeballs delivered and thus getting pride of position in the "sponsored" column on the RHS of the Google listing.
The "free" technique, it seems, is to get your link into lots of other web sites as this counts in Google's evaluation of "popularity"; so getting Google to put the site on the first page of its listings.

Google has 1330 links to "charliecroker" amongst these there are only two that include "JSA" (I thought that could be a useful tag), The good news is that "charliecroker" entries include 121 with a mention of "benefits".
No prizes for guessing which "charliecroker" comes top of the listing for "benefits".:T
The Max host (publisher) is doing its best to spread the word too.

On the down side there appears to be another "charliecroker" in Ireland who seems to be on rent allowance, with a slightly dodgy web site that merits a "site adviser" amber warning..

If all else fails MAX could join this thread and get "Mr T" to give him almost free groceries:

(It rather smacks of an updated version of the 1960's technique of making an ice mould for the fridge and then feeding the gas meter "ice shillings".)0 -

Max needs to start looking into the wonderful world of 'backlinks'. Google doesn't treat all links the same and spamming other sites with your own link is viewed as 'not quite cricket' in webmaster circles. A bit of reading up and polite emailing is required on how to get good links from other sites/blogs.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

I'm coaching Max by PM, but don't want to overload him by hitting him with everything he has to do and all the tricks on Day1. His head would explode with dullness.
Yes, backlinks, but they need to be drip fed over a period of time else Google will make an assumption that he's paid for links - and they're against those.
Tagging/keywording needs further development, he was passed the google adwords keyword tool earlier this evening.
Right now, the first objective is to make more postings, then we hit the next batch of link drops to raise the profile.
So far today we've touched on: copyright, hot linking, using divs for image placement, tags, keywords, value of keywords, linking, trends/timing of postings and twitter.
That's enough for one day of PMs. Poor bloke shot off to bed a bit early tonight ...0 -
PN - Max shooting off to bed early and you cant think why....poor lad's head hurt methinks;):D
I saw the comment earlier about Max's "dry humour, sarcasm and observation" - and thought to meself "someone stealing my clothes here.....oh well...do leave me my knickers to cover my dignity":rotfl:0 -
I bet he's up and scribbling. With literary genius, you can't overload them in the dull !!!!!! that makes the bits and bytes go around .... musn't crush the desire to scribble.
It's easy to get so hung up on the other stuff that the writing becomes a chore. Can't have that happen.
Setting technical boundaries and the expectations of others could bring on the sweats.0
