We have a relative who was invalided out of his senior county council type job and has since gone on to publish several "E books" -- don't know how much they bring in, but it is self evidently better that scraping along on invalidity benefit.
I read the Henley unemployment extracts in the paper at the time - Oh my God these people need a reality check, was my immediate reaction - they could be bankrupt by the time sensible economy measures occur to them.
They needed a session in Basildon job centre on benefit day - could do something useful while waiting, like playing with a single mother's kids (risking accusations of being a paediatrician :rotfl:).
On the blogging front, Woman's Hour book of the week was from the link below. It gave useful insights into some of the madness you get in government jobs created by politicians. However it is obviously a crowded field, judging by the number of links to other public sector bloggers.

Hello Max Headroom,
If you are not in Seattle, where are you? You have not filled out your location in your profile.
Quite a few people posting on this thread are also "locationless" why is that???
I find it quite helps to put someone's comments in context when I can see where they are located.
For example given my location any comments I might make about "the local job centre" are not about a job centre in High Street Wigan!!!There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
I recommend livejournal as a blogging forum. It has a good community feel relative to various otehr sites.0

I'm in the south-west of the UK.
I tend to prefer to be vague about personal details on the Internet. I'm probably over-cautious, but better that than over-confident.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

If it's any help I made my very first website based on a bit of a 'mishap' I had dyeing my hair ! ( it turned bright orange lol !).
I wrote a 'review' for a consumer website and from that, just to learn html..turned it into a site just writing about my story, the do's, don'ts, hints, tips and personal product recommendations. The site is still going, hasn't been updated for a year or two now and makes about £100 a month through adsense.
I've done the same with 2 others, not quite as successful but still bringing in £70 to £80 each a month. Just writing personal accounts about 'things that have happened' to me ( ie pregnancy etc ). I found going through old emails and forum posts on other sites I post on.. a very valuable means of 'content'. Looking over them again, rewording and expanding on them.. and 'hey presto' I have a whole page's worth of content from a single post I made about my driving lessons, or an old email I sent a friend moaning about swollen ankles when I was 7 months preggers.
You must have loads of things you've felt strongly enough to post about here which you can look through, expand on and build a good blog/site out of ?
As a stay at home mum I had a lot of time at home and I always was a crap housewife. Doing my first very simple websites felt like I was learning all the time AND doing something productive. I never thought about making money at all until a few years back so that was a real added bonus and very welcome in our pepetually skint household at the time ! I still never tire of the challenege or thinking about what I'm going to write about next. The wonderful thing about the internet is that the possibilities really are endless.
Good Luck Max !It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
