Is it Curry's job to remove transit bolts on an item when they deliver?

its certainly not the job of the delivery company to remove the bolts.
cannot believe any installer did not remove the bolts!
whether the machine was unpacked or not.

OP here.
I am living overseas and I rented out my house so I am unclear as to what the exact situation was. I had paid currys to install, but they turned up and said the connecting pipe wasn't long enough and therefore they don't install it and they didn't install. So I looked in the yellow pages for someone who could install for me.
This guy offered to sell me a reconditioned washing machine and I considered that a good sign as I felt he must know the ins and outs of how washing machine's work. He then offered to buy my old one for 10 gbp and install the new one for 50gbp.0 -

In that case, I'd be looking to recoup repair costs from him. You need to contact him to tell him he did not remove the transit bolts when he installed the machine and that the machine was damaged because of it. If it were me, I'd write rather than phone...and I'd include a copy of the repair bill.

Any competent plumber/ washing machine repair man would check the brackets were not in place - they are fitted to prevent the drum rattling from side to side in transit and becoming damaged - its as simple as opening the door and ensuring the drum rotates and moves freely about without restriction - definitely the installers fault - If we were that stupid our boss would have our guts for gartersBORN TO RIDE - FORCED TO DRIVE

I too have a Zanussi, bought from, delivered & unpacked by John Lewis, but they don't remove the transit bolts if they are not installing washing machine. However, they did ensure I understood that transit bolts needed to be removed before machine was installed & explained how to remove them. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
