Boy/Girl sharing room

It's funny isn't it how we'd never worry about this with children of the same sex. Do we really think being exposed to a vagina or penis at a young age will scar them for life?
Sex isn;t anywhere near being an issue at this age so they can share happily - they are just two children, related to each other as well, and they may actually like being in the same room.
I have a friend whose middle child aged 12 shares with the youngest who is 4 and it works very well for them (same sex I admit but she has three boys).
I really wouldn;t worry about it at all.
I also used to have a friend who was 21 and she shared with her 14 year old brother and neither of them was scarred for life by it! DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Sharing bedrooms is cool.
In terms of the problems it will throw up - well the main one is storage. Get yourself off to Ikea. Lots of storage solutions there and it's cheap and colourful.
The other major problem is mess. Just making sure they are keeping on top of it. Are you thinking of bunk beds? If not, then getting bed with under-drawer storage is a good idea.
The other issue is decor. Keep it simple and let them have posters or pictures up in "their half" as such.
The only other real problem is keeping each other awake, talking etc - you're just going to have to be strict - they'll get used to it. Mine have shared from time to time and the novelty wears off pretty soon."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
This isn't something you'll have to worry about for many years to come.
I shared a bedroom with my younger sister and brother until I was 11 years old and then we moved house to a 3-bedroom.Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10

I shared a room with my eldest wee brother till I was about 8 or 9ish before I got a room of my own. As others have said, it won't really be any problem till they're about to start puberty.Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.

I shared a room with my brother for around 3 years and we had a 7 and a half years age gap, It was fine although i used to get blamed for him breaking things in our room lol. Apparently he was "too young" to have done it lol. Anyway i think it's fine until puberty too♥ Mummy to a gorgeous little boy born 11/01/09 ♥0

My DDs aged 4 and 2 share. The nightmare is if one wakes to go to the loo then she wakes the other. 2 children awake at 4 in the morning is a nightmare. It doesn't happen often but when it does I really curse the fact they have to share.0

My DS was born 2 yrs and 4 wks after DD. They had to share until we (finally) moved house when DS was 17 months.
Except we (I) didn't think he'd sleep properly in his own room. So they went together. DS hadn't even slept in a bed before so we just put them both on mattresses on the floor. Every night when we checked on them, DS would be cuddled up to DD in her bed. We eventually gave up moving him back to his own room.
Anyway, I worked the Friday night before the August bank holiday that year (3 months after we moved in) and someone mentioned that there was a sale on at B&Q. So I went home and all hell broke loose, everyone up, DS's room will be emptied of everything and it can be put outside free for collection. (A fair bit went). We had his room decorated by the Wednesday evening, carpet down etc with his wardrobe and all his toys in it.
So we had the big boy ceremony and everything. Lo and behold, when we went up to check on them when we went to bed, he was in DD's bedroom!
So we shoved her in his room on the top bunk and did her bedroom which took another few months. I reckon e was gone 2 before he spent a night alone. Even now he's furthest from the bathroom and he stops to hve a look into everyones room on his way for a wee at night!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
I don’t see any problem because till 10yrs age, children don’t need too much privacy, so both of your children can share a room.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE Forum Team0

I shared a bedroom with my brother (2 year age difference) up to the age of 6 when my parents moved. After that I shared with my sister, but quite often my brother would get a sleeping bag and sleep on our bedroom floor. I assume he thought he was missing out on something.Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0
