£100 charges this month now in trouble

Options
i have been on frozen salary for 4 year and bills have slowly creapt up but my wages haven't. basicly my bank phoned me last month to say they saw i was stuggling and what could they do. they did a review of my salary and outgoings and couldn't reduce anything as i do not allow for any luxuries, clothes days out ect and survive on £50 a month food bill for 3 people (dont ask its possible) basicly i had £100 of charges from last month and they said they would have to do an account overhaul (whatever that is) if i was to go over my overdraft agaiin. the charges came out today and put me £492 over to my £500 limit. I have sold everthing I can around the house and actually get paid on friday but im worried i will now have to go through this overhaul even though i will actually have £250 spare next month. what can i do?

if i knew what an overhaul was I might not be as worried, and secondly a great number of people i worked with were on frozen salary and I work for a very well known company.

Anyway. A cheque for my sons school fees came out today now sending me £529.00 over which will of course now bounce and cause more fees and unautherised overdraft fees and each day until the 22nd anothing else that bounces. I have basicly pleaded with them to drop the £100 for this month so the cheque won't bounce and i'll get through the next 5 days. They wouldn't drop them when I was told about them at the end of last month when i told them i wouldn't be able to get through the month with these.

Furby - who do you bank with, then we'll figure out what an account overhaul is (I think it may be an account review as HSBC/HBOS etc call it)

Who do you work for, comeon spill the beans - lets name and shame!

I think you need to open a new account and start afresh with £0 balance and then arrange to pay the existing bank an amount that suits you and your financial needs.

im with first direct. i had an account review but they found they could not reduce my bills anymore. They buy was really nice but couldnn't help. I told him that i could squeeze through this month but the charges would push me over. he basicly said to try and find some money from somewhere. Ive dont overtime all month but i dont get that until next month. I've sold loads of my stuff on ebay but dissappointedly didn't get as much as i was hopeing and sold my gold. If it wasn't for this I believe I could have got to friday without going over at all.

woah, that surprises me that 1st direct are being so strict....... i'd look at getting a new account. won't help this month but at least next month you should be on a £0 balance....

Do you actually mean school fees, as in a private school's fees, or a cheque for something like a school trip?

Have you thought of changing to Alliance & Leicester cos they give you an interest free overdraft for 12 months as long as you are paying in at least £500 per month. Some of the cashback sites give you cash back as well and sometimes there is a £100 switching incentive as well.

It all rather depends upon your overall financial situation
if you're basically spending more than your income then simply opening new accounts won't really help

post up a SOA and lets see what's what ..format here
