think you call the helpline number and they give you a reference number to give to the store when its returned

You call the number, will be given an RMA and the monitor is collected then repaired/replaced and returned to you - took around a month on one that I sent back a couple of years ago.

I bought a camera and had to return it twice to germany, after it broke a third time they wanted me to send it again, I asked for a refund and they said no it would have to go and be repaired again. I then took it with my receipt to a lidl shop and they gave a refund straight away, no questions asked. I never even mentioned that it had been repaired. I also bought one of their 20gb mp3 players it went t*ts up after about 8 months took it back and got refund. Unless you want it repaired take it back to the shop for a refund providing you have receipt.

The one that I returned (about 18 months into the warranty) was replaced with a brand new monitor.

I work for this GREAT :o company and you can try and take it back to the store but odds are because its so over 2 years ago when you bought it they will advise that you ring the head office number who will deal with you....and they are in Germany
If you dont ask you dont get!!

For anyone who does come across this thread who are in the same situation as I was then this might be helpful. THe following is what i did to get a replacement monitor,

I filled the form in on the targa website,
Was then contacted by a targa rep who explained what would happen eg a replacement monitor would be sent out and i was to put the faulty 1 into the box and to call the number for ups to come and pick up the faulty monitor, when i spoke to the rep the warranty on the monitor came with a like for like swap but what i dont know if the "new" swap is brand new but it looks brand new or at least it doesnt have any marks on it,
