PAYG Any Network

I've just had my Orange PAYG phone unblocked so I can use it for any network, i'm confused tho I was thinking of having asda payg but how do I tranfer to asda? do i need a new sim card and do I have to have my number registered with asda? at the momet I still have an orange sim card in the phone.

i'd prefer to keep my own number if that helps, i'm always about things like this
