sky dishes on privately owned council flat

Options
my sister had sky installed on her flat in december, she is the ground floor flat in a block 2 high. this is a council property with some private owned and some council owned, she is privately owned

since she has had it the sky has not had good reception. they sent out an engineer and he replaced the box, still no good, so they have been out again today and the engineer has said that the tree is in the way and she will never have good reception

so the question is, can she have the dish on the side/roof of the property? she does not think so as she is leasehold. Virgin want twice what she is paying now so any ideas? sky are being no jelp at all. surprise surprise.

Think she would need to ask the freeholder to know for sure but I suspect councils will be strickter then most. TBF it's not something Sky can advise on.

How bad is the reception? Certain times, or certain times of the year? Would trimming the branches of the tree help?

the tree apparently is huge and she has asked the council to trim it and it may take sometime.i think reception has always been intermittent but since the leaves have grown on the tree sometimes she has nothing at all

Sounds like trimming the tree is probably not the answer. Best thing to do is just ask the question of the council. Is the side wall her wall so to speak? You could just put it there and be prepared to take it down if asked.

I work for one of the local housing associations and a remember a few years back a tree needed cut for the same reason.
Best thing to do is contact local council explain and ask them to cut it down - you may have to pay part of it depending on the location.
Speak to the council and see what they say, thats my advise

Let's hope no teenage vandals come and burn the tree or cut it down in the mddle of the night.
