Off to malaga next month and need to hire a car.
All the big name places require a credit card on arrival for the excess charge and unfortunately i dont have one only a debit card.
Are there any independants i can use that will allow me to pay the excess charge by debit card. I have sufficent funds linked to it and getting a credit card isnt an option for me.
    Thanks

Maybe worth engaging brain and checking before cluttering up the forums with duplicate threads that have already been answered.
  • hertz might take a euro deposit if they have a base there, make sure you call
    and ask before you book

Keep your hair on, no need for being so personal. What are you the forum police or do you just like being confrontational with people when they make genuine mistakes.

I've merged the two threads together now, if it was a mistake don't worry, it's not a problem (that's what we're here for) :)

    Dearboy 289,

Just spoke with Arrow cars and they do car hire without credit cards. They are brokers and told me that to hire without a credit card( but with debit card) they use Auriga Crown who take a bigger deposit but refund the money if everything is in order. Auriga crown are directly below the airport terminal and are very good. The one downside is that if you hit busy time the queue can be quite long- morning arrivals are the worst.

Hopefully this will help you, I have given you the website in this posting earlier so good luck and hopefully you will have more fun with your future postings on here.

Have you tried actually talking to any of the bigger companies, I'm sure a mate of mine got round this problem a couple of years ago by ringing round and explaining the situation; in the end he found one who were willing to take a deposit from his Visa Debit, before he went abroad, and then arranged for him to pick the car up when he arrived.
Don't know if any of them are still doing that, but I'm sure it must be possible, afterall not everyone has a credit card!
    Best of luck! :)

Thanks everyone, still trying to sort it out at the mo but will contact arrow cars. Had no joy with the big firms who all advise it must be a creditcard not debit card.
But arrow sounds promising and i have also enquired about a prepaid credit card if all else fails.
    Thanks again.
