Car hire in Malaga- dont have credit card, help!

Hi all, im going to malaga in about 5 weeks and due to the location of where i am staying thought it would be best to hire a car.
All the companies i have checked say i need a credit card to pay for the excess charge once i arrive.
Trouble is i dont have a credit card only a visa debit card and getting one isnt an option for me.
However i do have enough funds on the debit card to be able to cover the excess charge.
Can anyone recommend a car hire company, preferably based at the airport that will allow me to use a debit card or pay cash or cheque for the excess charge coz im starting to panic a little now, eek!

I would have thought that a debit card would be fine if it has the Visa symbol on it. The problem is they may take the money and refund it later.
I am not expert though.0 -
From what i have read in the terms and conditions and FAQ on the sites of the hire places i have looked at it says credit card not debit card.0

Try carjet. They say that you can pay£1.14 per day extra and have no excessSomething Really Interesting0

we chose to hire with avis when in US earlier this year. we have no credit card either and had established that avis accepted visa debit.Teamwork means.......never having to take all the blame yourself

Try calling Arrow cars, whos website is www.arrowcars.es because I am certain they hire without credit cards. They are brokers so you get to hire a top car from people like Auriga crown or similar who are based at the airport.0

The US is not Spain unfortunately and Avis can have different policies in different locations (and for different cars, even)
One of the biggies is nevertheless your best bet0 -
Do you need a car to get from the airport to your accommodation/resort and therefore need to book it in advance?
In the past when I have hired a car (usually for just a few days though) I have just walked into a local hire place and paid cash.
Check out the Camino del Rey (Search on Youtube), that's near Malaga......0 -
5 weeks is enough time to get a credit card.
Then you can shop around for the best deal rather than have to settle for second best.
If you go through Quidco, you can get £20 cash back for getting a Halifax card, so you'll be quids in on the deal too."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
How about one of those pre loaded Credit Cards?
Need no credit check however cost a little on commission I think?
Otherwise if you have issues getting a card, maybe one of the "no history" cards, Capital One or...Vanquis card is it?0
