Where do I post this question? Fraud.

I have put my car for sale on line with Trade it. Had an email from someone via the site telling me they want to buy it and will pay by transferring the money in to my site and I have to give them my tel no and bank account details!

Not that stupid! Have emailed trade it but want advice as to who else I report it to?

Where do I pot this on the forums please?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'transferring the money in to my site' but if they want to pay direct into your bank account, it's extremely safe for you.

Very unsafe for the buyer though - which makes me think it's unlikely to be a legitimate offer.

What are you hoping to achieve by posting? That would indicate the most appropriate forum.
    My TV is broken!

No I have a car for sale and someone has emailed me asking for all my bank details etc as they want to buy the car.......blah blah...never looking at the car. Clearly a scam.

I wanted to ask where in the forums on this advice site do I post about this and get advice as to who in authority to report it to.

I presumed that this thread being questions is where I would get an answer.

What exactly have they asked for? Your username and password to your online banking? If just the sort code and account number theres not a lot they can do with those other than send you money or set up a direct debit but that wouldn't be incredibly difficult to notice/stop or trace so doubt it would be worth it.

Even if they were intending to scam you in the future they certainly haven't done anything yet to suggest it yet so don't believe there is an authority who would really be interested.

Copy & pasted email below, offering the asking price without seeing it.

What do you think? As trade it say, if it sounds too good to be true it prob isn't.

I agree, it does look like a scammer, possibly Mr Smith from Nigeria. ;)

Give Trading Standards/ Consumer Direct a call. They will make a record of it, but are pretty powerless in these situations.
    Gone ... or have I?

Yes, scam. Notice how the sender goes from "I" to "we" about himself...."also i can pay you with my paypal we will need (paypal I.D )" And the wording, eg broken English....I don't know where best to post it here though.
