Yes you can have sky and freeview. We have already switched in my area and we have bought kids freeview. Don't make any rushed decisions about changing aerials as when it comes to switchover they increase the power so even if freeview isn't great at the moment it may be fine once the switch happens.

In that case upgrade the LNB (bit on the end of the dish) to a quad output LNB which means your dish can feed both TV's. They are about £20 on ebay.

Then buy a sky box of ebay (again no more then £20) for your sons room and ask an independant installer to run a cable from the dish to your sons room, although is a DIY job depending on your level of competence.

You will both then be able to watch different things at different times although your son wont get any sky channels you pay for just the free to air ones.

Just had another thought, do tv's have 2 holes for input one for sky and one for freeview box?

Some do and some, older models, don't.

Scart sockets are the standard way to connect basic Sky and Freeview but if you have only one Scart socket on the back of your TV you can buy a little box which will combine them.

Assuming the Sky+ box the OP has was installed by Sky, the LNB will already be a quad.

Ah didnt notice it was a plus box. Yes you should already have a quad LNB so even more reason to go this route and make best use of your dish.
