Lost document, word 2007, Vista...

I think I've figured out that the reason Vista search is so useless is because it appears to automatically hide loads of stuff... ie. the stuff you want to search for.
With that in mind, I'll try the 6 possibilities in the list again.

I can't solve your main problem, but I have XP and when I tried to help a friend with Vista I realised there was a Menu Bar missing. I eventually discovered that the ALT key produced it temporarily.
To keep it showing permanently, under Tools or View or something - there is "Files and Folders" where you can tick the box "Always Show Menus" which makes life much easier!
Somebody with Vista may describe this more accurately

Right, I give up. Recuva found 4 files (looked promising) but they were all blank.
Thanks anyway all. I have 2 hours of lost work to get going on now

Just a quick one. i use a program called GetDataBack i know to recover the document you have to pay for the full version. but on download.com there are just as good programs that will do the job . http://download.cnet.com/Recover-Files/3000-2094_4-10715455.html?!!!!!mncol

for this thread - just found a piece of work I've been faffing with all afternoon - and sure enough it was hidden in the folder as described by willowx.
Best thing that's happened all day! :TBern :j0
