Lost document, word 2007, Vista...

Hi,
Trying to be calm here but I was stupid enough to click Don't Save when closing my file...
Have looked up recover options. Save AutoRecover information was enabled, but this bit doesn't help:
'Then, if the Save AutoRecover information every [] minutes option is selected, try closing Word and reopening it. If the AutoRecover task pane appears on the left side of the screen, click the lost document to restore it.'
... the AutoRecover task pane doesn't appear to show up. (It's hard to tell, cos it's Word 2007 and tbh every minute spent using it is a baffling experience)
Can anyone tell me how to force the AutoRecover task pane to appear? Or have any other suggestions? I tried using the (equally user unfriendly) Vista search function to search for all files modified today, and the result was: 0. (Which makes no sense at all)
Help

Autosave is designed for powercuts and forced closures.
I know it's not much help but I don't think you have much chance as I'm pretty sure that the tempory files are deleted if you choose to close word without saving.0 -
I had a quick look . have you had a look in this location:
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\
{username} = your username
Also search for *.wbkPeter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born. Peter: And this one? Lois: In.
Peter: And this one? Lois: Montana. Peter: Ah... oh, hey Lois did you know Evil Knievel was born in Montana? Family Guy - I Take Thee, Quagmire 04x210 -

I know you aren't going to want to hear this, but I just checked and the AutoRecover data file (a .asd file in a location similar to that described by crampo) is "cleaned up" when you close without saving.
Because it's a program doing the deleting, it just goes - it does not get put in the Recycle Bin. Sorry...
It's possible that one of the "undelete" programs like Recuva might get it back. That may be worth trying, as you can find out exactly where to look - if you go to Options, File Locations, it shows you where the Autorecovery file is stored.
[edit - wasn't fully paying attention - the above is for Word 2003, but I guess 2007 will probably behave in the same fashion...]0 -

At the window C:\Users\{username} click organise/folder and search options/view/ and check always show hidden folders0 -

Right , I Just opened Word 2007. typed up half a page of writing . Went to Task Manager and Ended the Process. Then i Went to ( C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word \ ) and there was a file called ( AutoRecovery save of Document1.asd ) double clicked on it and it asked for the program to open it with , selected Microsoft Word 2007 and it come up with word and the autorecover bar and the document in one piece. Also I never saved the document once.Peter: Hey Lois... what's this word? Lois: Evil. Peter: And this one? Lois: Knievel. Peter: And this one? Lois: Was. Peter: And this one? Lois: Born.
