our local freecycles are useless, only ever people wanting stuff, have been looking for carpet for ages but the only ones that have ever come up are ones suitable for use in the garden...... so much the same condition as the one i already have in my living room!! i thought it would be considered a luxury item but thought id ask anyway incase anyone had any ideas.

i would have thought this aswell tbh.

im sure a cooker/washing machine would be fine tho as it is essential.

Hmm cooker/fridge etc would be classed as essential.....BUT the receiver wouldnt look kindly to taking on more credit with no intentions of paying back

Hanstar, can you not maybe lay some cheap rugs down? I rent now, and in each room have put a (cheapy) rug down to protect the carpet from the wear and tear of my three kids. It adds a bit of colour and is cheaper than buying a new carpet. Just an idea. Know what you mean about freecycle - I don't think I've ever got anything from it, but have listed a lot of stuff. Sometimes the 'I want' list is completely ridiculous

I would just like some advice as I have Great Universal catalogue and I bought some items on BNPL Feb. 10 I need to know if the catalogue or the OR would be able to take them when I go bankrupt, I got a 42" TV @ £700, a WII @ £220 and DVD home cinema system @ £150.00?

    Any replies greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

It is posters like the OP that give this board a bad name.

OP, why not ask the catalogue company if they are ok with giving you credit that you never intend to pay back?
    Gone ... or have I?

This post does make you a troll on this board apparently.

Now what on earth is the difference between the amoral and fraudulent exploitation of expenses by our MPs and the obtaining goods by false pretences which is what the OP is wanting to do and several posters agree that it is OK. They are both theft

I agree with that. Just the tip of the iceberg, though. There will be a flood. I am interested in who is responsible for exposing these things to the public ... because they are only doing us all a favour in the end. Is it to just discredit the present officials or something else. Very intrigued by all of it. As it is (seemingly) doing some good. ;)
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

I don't think it makes the poster a troll that they have pointed this out. As DMG states, it IS posts like this that give the bankruptcy board a 'bad' name. However, I do think we need to bear in mind that when people were answering the OP's question, they did not know that s/he had already purchased a number of items this way at the beginning of the year.

For many, a washing machine is an essential item - they can't get to the laundrette, etc - so the original responses may well have been coming from that perspective.

Yet, we do get people coming over to the BR board who take a post like this and see it as the norm - that all of the people going bankrupt are trying to screw as much goods/money as possible with no intention of repaying it. And those people are labelled as trolls when they attack us because that is not what this board is about.

The majority of people who go bankrupt do so after a long, stressful, difficult time, often due to a change in circumstances far out of their control. And helping these people is what this board is about.

    Sorry about the speech :o

If thats the case then, can you not flog the electrical items (which are pretty much non essential) and buy a 200quid washing machine from currys, that way you are not obtaining any more credit
