Advice needed on paypal dispute

I bought some boyzone tickets from someone on ebay and paid for them through paypal after a couple of weeks i'd not heard anything and sent the person an email i never got a response so i started up a dispute with paypal and the seller replied saying he hasn't received the tickets yet and he is sorry and as soon as they arrive he will post them to me.
So after 20 days paypal closed the dispute as i believed this person and didn't want to escalate it as they had good feedback and seemed genuine, it has now been well over 6 weeks and i have not heard a dicky bird from them so i went to the persons ebay page and it says they are no longer a registered user, i have sent them a few emails and not heard anything back, can i re-open the dispute
and what other methods is their for me to get a refund as i don't think i'm gonna get the tickets as the concert in less than 3 weeks away.

Oh dear, no you can't open another dispute you only get one attempt at it and you are well out of time now. It would have warned you whenn you let the dispute lapse.
If you paid by credit card via paypal you can try a claim through the CC provider, otherwise you are going to have to track down the seller somehow using whatever info you have on them and go via small claims.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. OP i wouldn't worry too much just yet, tickets are usually only sent out a week or two before the concert. I have bought tickets to see oasis from ticketmaster which is in three weeks time and i have not had them yet.
As you state he has good feedback for selling other tickets it sounds like he is genuine.
Go on paypal and see if you can get his personal details, home address that kind of thing, if you can't you can request them from ebay, if you enter into a transaction with a seller and ebay boot them off the site they will give you the persons details if you request them.
Send him a letter (recorded) stating you are concerned that he is no longer registered and asking if he intends to honour the sale, ask him to respond within 7 day's due to the concert being so close.
He may well be genuine, but if he does not honour the sale at least you will have his personal details and you will be able to issue a county court claim online via moneyclaim.gov.uk, it costs £25 which is charged back to him, if he does not respond you win by default and can apply for a warrant to send bailiffs to recover your money so there is no reason for you to lose out. But as i said he may be genuine, and he sounds like he is, so he may just need your details, which he won't have if ebay booted him, to honour the deal.0 -

Thanks for the advice phew least i might get my tickets or if not i will try what you said about the court thing :T hope they are genuine don't fancy the hassle of courts.
His address isn't on file on paypal how would i find it out?0 -
You don't get a full address anymore when you use 'get contact details' on ebay. This is the format you get: (I cut and paste a real one but have obviously changed the details

I didn't realise they had changed that system, been a while since i used it but ebay will no doubt give you their address details if you explain you were ripped off and wish to pursue them for the money. In fact i'm sure they are oblidged too in such instances.
And to the OP the claims process is really no hassle at all, it's only a couple of clicks and the court send the paers out which usually result in a cheque landing on the mat within a week or two. Admitedly there is a little more work involved if he defends the claim but really, on what grounds could he if he does not supply the goods.0 -
Thanks for the advice :T0

Ebay will not release full seller details, it is their strange take on data protection. However it is worth a try both to them and to paypal to see if you can get anyone on the phone that is prepared to do it without thinking, however I wouldn't hold my breath. I would also suggest you try this today, the longer you leave it the harder it will be to track them down.
Unless the OP can find this seller they have no way at all of getting their money back unless they paid via credit card ( as per my 1st post).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. *UPDATE*
I got the sellers email address from paypal and sent her 2 emails she then got back to me saying the boyzone tickets are in the post and they came a few days later, so all well the ends well :T
Seems that there are trustworthy sellers on ebay after all :rotfl:0 -
Congrats karenw you are lucky!
On 6 May I bought Take That tickets on ebay for Wembley 3 July as a birthday pressie for OH. The seller is a power seller with an excess of 2500 feedback, 99% and a member since 2005 selling various tickets to gigs.
I have not yet received the tickets and logged on to ebay tonight in order to send the seller a meesage....now for the twist.....I have found that the seller is no longer registered on ebay. I have reported this via paypal and the seller has till 16 June to respond. I have also contacted 1 or 2 people who left feedback for him to find out if they have received their tickets yet.
What do you think the odds are and how long before I should request the sellers details from ebay/paypal???0
