mini bus driving on D1 category

Thanks for the replies. It`s good to know I am not the only one having difficulty understanding it. Will call DVLA tomorrow, but not sure if I can rely on their answer being correct as it seems so complexed. I passed my test before 1997, therefore I have category D1. It`s the "category restriction 1 " bit that`s confusing.

I do now, but not when my licence was issued. I don`t think category restriction 1 is anything to do with medical restrictions.

If its on the rear of the photocard to the left and is down as 01 then it is.

I have the older style pink and green paper licence. It just has "category restriction 1 applies" printed next to the D1 category.

Cat 1 restriction = Not for hire or reward.

Sorry, I can't find a good citation for this, but googling "category restriction 1 applies" (including the quotation marks) will reveal other forums with this answer.
